In 1979, Mario Civelli owner and founder opened “
Butcher Shop - Carnicerfa Argentina El Gauchito”
which offered Argentinian-style steaks and homemade
sausages. The business quickly progressed due to the
top-quality meat, cold cuts and focus on customer
service. By 1987, with the success of the butcher
shop, Mario opened the restaurant “El Gauchito,” as it
stands today, with the butcher shop providing fresh
meats directly to the restaurant.
Today El Gauchito is not only the oldest and most
comprehensive Argentinian butcher shop in Queens, it
is also a restaurant that offers authentic Argentinian
food that can be enjoyed with family and friends in our
