Come join QCA grantwinner Shervone Neckles for this 6:30 p.m. workshop. Admission is $10 and the Queens Council of the Arts is located at 37-11 35th Ave. in Astoria. Do you like noodles? Burmese noodles? If so, you should stop by the Burmese Noodle Pop Up Shop to enjoy a variety of different noodle dishes like chicken coconut noodles, beef Shan noodles and more. The pop up shop will be open from 7 to 11 p.m. and is located at 1080 Wyckoff Ave. in Ridgewood. The Bliss Plaza invites you and your kids to “Spring Into the Plaza” at their Kids Art Workshop. The theme of this workshop will be learning to create plantable greeting cards for a special someone. The event will be free and is scheduled to go from noon to 2 p.m. The Bliss Plaza can be found at the corner of Queens Boulevard and 46th Street beneath the 7 train. RESOBOX is bringing in their newest exhibition, “Origami in Action: A New Approach to Applied Origami,” with a reception party. The exhibition will feature creative origami from Sam Ita, Adrienne Sack and Paul Frasco. The event is also a great chance to learn more about Japanese culture. Admission is free and RESOBOX is located at 41-26 27th St. in Astoria. The 2016 Havana Film Festival will be launching its 17th run right here in Queens this Friday at the Museum of the Moving Image. The featured screening at this location will be VIVA (2015). The screening will be at 7 p.m. and is free with museum admission. The Museum of the Moving Image can be found at 36-01 35th Ave. in Astoria. Spend your Saturday night laughing at the Headliner’s Ball. Hosted by Derek Humphrey, the Headliner’s Ball is a monthly comedy showcase that gives a platform to a diverse range of comedians from veteran to newbie. The show goes from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and will feature names like Phoebe Robinson and AC Roe. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 the day of. The show will be hosted at the QED Astoria, which can be found at 27-16 23rd Ave. in Astoria. Festival Director AseemChabra will be moderating a discussion following gay filmmaker Parvez Sharma’s 2015 film “A Sinner in Mecca,” a documentary of his personal Hajj to Mecca in Saudia Arabia, where both homosexuality and filming are both serious offenses, exploring what it means to be an LGBT Muslim. The event begins 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $12 for non-members and free for members at the Film Lovers and MoMI Kids Premium levels. The Museum of the Moving Image is located at 36-01 35th Ave. in Astoria. SATURDAY, APRIL 9 Flushing Town Hall invites you to come celebrate Southwest Virginia’s rich heritage with a performance featuring three award-winning string band artists and participate in a workshop teaching you how to “fl atfoot,” the dance that commonly accompanies this unique genre of music. The workshop begins at 7 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $16 for non-members and $10 for members and students. Flushing Town Hall can be found at 137-35 Northern Blvd. in Flushing. Come join the K &A Social Club for a night of drunk trivia at their K & A Pub Quiz. There will be six rounds of trivia questions covering everything from sports to pop culture to music. The team that places fi rst will win a $25 dollar bar tab and free beer for second-place contestants. There will also be a one free shot question per round for which everyone is encouraged to yell out an answer. The games will begin at 6 p.m. and you can fi nd the K &A Social Club at 66-48 Myrtle Ave. in Flushing. Richmond Hill Love Letter and Queens Memory will be hosting an event at the Queens Library Lefferts branch welcoming you to share photographs as part of a community project to document the stories and histories of Queens. During the event, the Queens Memory team will scan your photographs and save them to a thumb drive that you can take home.
