At about 10:45 a.m. on March 30, cops responded to a 911 call at 14-52 Gipson St. where they discovered the remains inside the bag along the shore. Emergency personnel pronounced the individual as dead and it was not immediately clear if the bag contained a whole body or parts of a human body. As of press time, the Medical Examiner was determining the cause of death and the investigation was ongoing. 103rd Precinct Hollis Park Gardens, Hollis, Lakewood and Jamaica Man gets 25 years in deadly 2012 Hollis shooting A Hollis man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for shooting and killing a Queens Village resident in broad daylight three years ago, prosecutors announced on March 30. Paul Boatwright, 23, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter earlier in March in the shooting death of Jerry Lodvill before Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth C. Holder, who imposed the determinate sentence of 25 years in prison. According to court records and published reports, Boatwright fatally shot 30-year-old Lodvill in the head and torso in February 2012 on Hollis Avenue near 205th Street across from a playground in Hollis as the victim was walking home. “The defendant has admitted to gunning down a man in broad daylight and will now serve a lengthy sentence in prison for this senseless shooting. Gun violence in our neighborhoods will not be tolerated,” District Attorney Richard Brown said. 106th Precinct South central Queens Suspect wanted in shooting outside Richmond Hill club Police are looking for the clubgoer who they say shot a man in front of a Richmond Hill night spot. The incident took place outside the Underground Lounge, at 104-09 123 St., near Liberty Avenue, at about 4:20 a.m. on March 23. According to police, the suspect shot the 25-year-old victim in the foot following an argument. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). 110th Precinct Corona and Elmhurst Queens husband beats wife with hammer to end her suffering: prosecutors An 87-year-old man was charged with assault after hitting his 83-year-old wife on the head with a hammer because he didn’t want to see her suffer as she went into surgery at Elmhurst Hospital, officials said. On March 7, at about 4:40 p.m. Manuel Besteiro went into Elmhurst Hospital to visit his wife Remedious Besteiro as she was being treated and expected to go in to surgery, according to court records. A nurse at the hospital then witnessed the husband strike his wife over the head with a hammer numerous times, and she quickly took the hammer out of his hand. According to the criminal complaint, the 87-year-old told investigators that he went to see his wife in the hospital, where staff told him she was going to have surgery, and because he didn’t “want to see her suffer” he hit her in the head with a hammer. There is no prior history of violence between the couple, police said. The victim suffered contusions and lacerations to the head and received 15 to 20 staples on the right side of her head. Besteiro was arraigned on March 8 and has been charged with attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. He was released on his own recognizance and is expected to appear again in court on April 7. 113th Precinct St. Albans, Hollis, Springfield Gardens, South Ozone Park, Jamaica, Addisleigh Park and Locust Manor Girlfriend charged with deadly botched robbery of boyfriend in St. Albans The girlfriend of a 33-year-old Jamaica man shot to death in St. Albans was locked up for her role in the homicide, according to authorities. Prosecutors said Natasha Mohabeer, 30, of 126th Street in South Ozone Park collaborated with two unidentified males to rob the victim, Michael Jonathan, at the corner of Fonda Avenue and Mayville Street just before 3 p.m. on March 26. But all did not go according to plan, as Jonathan engaged the robbers in a physical struggle after they confronted him, police said. Moments later, one of the crooks reportedly shot Jonathan in the torso. As of press time, authorities said both unidentified suspects remain at large. Officers from the 113th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call regarding the incident, found Jonathan wounded at the intersection. Paramedics brought him to a local hospital, where he died a short time later. In questioning Mohabeer, detectives learned that she worked with the two at-large suspects in concocting the planned robbery, according to prosecutors. Mohabeer was subsequently charged with second-degree murder, first-degree attempted robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. “This is yet another example of the senseless gun violence in our community that must end,” Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said on March 27. “Mohabeer now faces being locked behind bars for the rest of her life.” Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the two suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). 70-year-old Jamaica woman shot to death after answering door A 70-year-old woman was killed after she answered the door to her Jamaica home and was shot, police said. Leta Webb heard a knock at the door of her 119th Avenue residence about 1:40 a.m. on March 31, authorities said. When she opened the door, the gunman fired, striking her in the head and left arm. Webb was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. As of press time, police had no motive for the shooting and said there were no arrests. Wet Basement?
