By Anthony Giudice [email protected] @A_GiudiceReport When Ewa Campbell opened the aptlytitled Little Coffee Shop in Ridgewood back in December, she wanted to serve more than just a nice cup of joe and tasty food. Campbell wanted to make sure that local artists had a venue where they can be represented in the community, so she allowed artists to display their work on a wall of the shop located at 59-15 71st Ave. “This wall is very important to this coffee shop,” Campbell said of the art wall in the store. “From the beginning, when we did the renovations, this wall was dedicated for art.” The artwork of Ewa Zeller currently hangs on the wall, but it will soon be changed to give another local artist, Ken Kern, the chance to display his work. “We have a huge, long list of artists wanting to be shown at the shop,” Campbell said. “So this wall is very important to us. We cannot live without art.” It is not just art that can be hung on the shop’s art wall that Campbell enjoys and wants to share with all of Ridgewood, she is hoping to invite local musicians to come play at Little Coffee Shop’s outdoor area on the pedestrian plaza when the weather gets warmer. Campbell took over the coffee shop from her husband, who runs the Ridgewood Coins & Collectible store a few doors down, and rebranded it as Little Coffee Shop. “Everything came natural because the previous owner here is my husband,” Campbell said. “So it is still a family business. We are all around here and everybody is helping.” Little Coffee Shop connects with its customers by using mostly family recipes to create all of their delicious offerings. “Everything except the bread is cooked here,” Campbell said. “We are very close to our guests. While we are making the sandwiches and coffee, we are always talking with them.” One of the shop’s most popular items is their bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel. For the cold weather season, Little Coffee Shop sells a homemade Polish-style chicken soup. “You cannot find this anywhere around here, except in maybe a Polish restaurant,” Campbell said. “I cook this the way I cook at home for my children.” Little Coffee Shop is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekends.
