Tom Clarke, owner of several Arby’s franchises across Queens and Long Island, built, owned and operated the Fresh Meadows Arby’s since 2002, and the Middle Village location since 2006, and loves that the diversity of Queens is reflected in the customers who eat at his restaurants. “I was born and raised in Queens, and I like to tell people is that Queens is the Babylon of the new world,” Clarke said. “I don’t think you can get more diverse than here.” Knowing how diverse his customers are, Clarke is proud that the food his restaurants serves can be enjoyed by everyone for an affordable price. Some of the sandwiches Arby’s offers include the Corned Beef Reuben, Smokehouse Brisket, the Gyro (filled with turkey or beef), the Loaded Italian sandwich, as well as a variety of Market Fresh sandwiches including a BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato) option, and several different chicken options including sandwiches and sliders. “Our tagline is ‘We’ve got the meats,’ and we really do,” Clarke said. “What we try to do is give better food for the same price point, or less than a quick serve restaurant. Everything is made fresh and made to order. We’d rather have you wait a couple of seconds extra for a fresh item than try to get you out really quick and give you something that’s been sitting there for a while.” Arby’s Corned Beef Reuben is made of 3.5 oz. of sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing, and is served on toasted marble rye bread. The Smokehouse Brisket sandwich is made from brisket that has been smoked at the distributor’s smokehouse in Texas for 14 hours, and is topped with Gouda cheese, tangy barbecue sauce and mayonnaise. The popular Loaded Italian sub comes with thinly sliced ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese and a garlic aioli sauce. One of the restaurant’s more popular items include the Chicken Bacon Swiss sandwich, made with tender chicken, Swiss cheese, pepper bacon, lettuce and tomato on starcrossed bread. The Fresh Meadows Arby’s is located at 175-14 Horace Harding Expy., and is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. The Middle Village Arby’s is located at 69-16 Metropolitan Ave., and is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
