A Nissan 350Z was driving eastbound on Beach Channel Drive near Beach 127 Street about 11:10 p.m. on Jan. 14 when it veered sideways, crossed over the double yellow line and entered the oncoming lane, authorities said. A Kia Spectra traveling westbound on Beach Channel then struck the passenger side door of the Nissan. The Nissan’s 19-year-old passenger, Geovanni Balverdy, of Far Rockaway was pronounced dead at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, police said. The car’s driver, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Jamaica Hospital, in stable condition. EMS took the Kia’s driver, a 29-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 21-year-old man, to Brookdale Hospital. Their condition was not immediately clear. Far Rockaway woman arrested in murder of boyfriend: NYPD A 27-year-old woman has been charged with murder after her 48-year-old boyfriend was found stabbed in her Far Rockaway home, police said. Police, responding to a report of a man assaulted inside of a residence on Beach 84th Street near Beach Channel Drive, discovered Troy Davis stabbed and unresponsive about 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 18, authorities said. Davis, a Brooklyn resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. His girlfriend, Shaquana Bell, has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in his death, police said. 102nd Precinct Kew Gardens, Richmond Hill, Woodhaven and Ozone Park Shoplifter cuts Wodhaven Radio Shack employee after stealing headphones: police An 18-year-old Radio Shack employee was attacked with scissors after he tried to catch a man who swiped trendy headphones from the Woodhaven store, authorities said. The shoplifter took three pairs of Beats By Dre headphones from a shelf at the 92-11 Jamaica Ave. businesses about 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 2, police said. He then walked out of the store without paying for them. When an employee tried to stop him, he cut the employee with a pair of scissors and fled. Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man, about 30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing jeans, a tan jacket and a brown hat. Jiram Ali Suarez, 24, of Queens Village, is facing second degree murder, robbery and criminal possession charges in the Jan. 6 incident, cops said. The gunman fired at the two men as they were seated inside a Honda CRV on 130th Street near Old South Road at about 10 p.m., according to police. John Pichardo, 19, of Brooklyn, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg, police said. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition. 107th Precinct Fresh Meadows, Cunningham Heights, Hilltop Village, Electchester and Pomonok Kew Gardens Hills synagogue burglarized Police are looking for two suspects in the burglary of a Kew Gardens Hills synagogue, where cash was stolen in the early morning hours of Dec. 25. The suspects entered the synagogue on 70th Road near 147th Street sometime between 5 and 8:30 a.m. through an open door, cops said. The employee was working in the mezzanine area of the 61st Street and Woodside Avenue station about 1 p.m. on Jan. 3 when the suspect entered the business, cops said. He then exposed himself to the woman. When a customer came into the store, the suspect fled. Rivera Maria Cristina Rivera Rivera, 82, of Pembroke Pines passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2015 after a long battle with cancer, CHF and Alzheimer’s. Wife of Gilberto Rivera; Mother to Sonia and Edna Green; and Grandmother to Daniel and Damian Zuanetto; and a friend to many, she will be remembered for her kindness towards others. Born on February 13, 1932 in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, to Lucia Torres and Pedro Sanchez, she came to live in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and her two daughters. Her husband, Hector D. Green died of a stroke in 1961.
