Masked gunman robs Kew
Gardens Hills liquor store
Police are looking for the public’s assistance
in fi nding a man who robbed a liquor
store in Kew Gardens Hills on Sunday.
According to police, a man entered
Hakerem Wine & Liquor at 141-22 Jewel
Ave. on Jan. 5, around 5:30 p.m., brandished
a gun and demanded money from
the establishment’s register. Th e store
clerk handed over approximately $800
and the thief left . No injuries were reported
to the police.
Th e man was covered head to toe in
dark clothes, including a dark green
hooded jacket, black pants, black gloves
and a black ski mask over his face. He is
described as being approximately 5 feet, 9
inches tall and 180 pounds.
Surveillance cameras inside the liquor
store were obtained by the NYPD.

Man goes on punching
spree down Steinway
Street in Astoria: NYPD
Th e NYPD is asking for the public’s
assistance in identifying a man who
went on a menacing punching rampage
through Astoria this weekend.
Th e punching spree began around
5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, when the
unidentifi ed man approached a 50-yearold
woman walking in front of 31-21
Steinway St. with her 9-year-old daughter,
according to the NYPD. Th e man
punched the woman in the face and ran
off , heading north on Steinway, cops say.
Th e woman traveled to a medical facility
by private means with a bloody and swollen
face.
About fi ve minutes later, around 5:20
p.m., the man entered Yogi Lala Jewelers,
located at 30-07 Steinway St., displayed a
knife, and threatened several customers at
the entranceway, according to the police.
He then pushed and attempted to punch
a 61-year-old victim. Th e man then fl ed
north on Steinway again. Th ere were no
injuries reported at the second location.
In his fi nal act of terror, the man
approached a 45-year-old woman walking
in front of 28-33 Steinway St., around
6 p.m. Th e man punched the woman in
the face and fl ed on foot southbound to
30th Avenue. Th e woman reported having
pain and redness in her face as a result
of the attack.
Th e NYPD obtained surveillance video
that shows the man approaching Yogi Lala
Jewelers.
Th e investigation into the incidents is
ongoing.

Cops seek suspects in
connection with South

Police are searching for several individuals
wanted in connection with two
burglaries in South
At some time between 11:30 p.m. on
Saturday, Jan. 11, and 5 a.m. on Sunday,
Jan. 12, the unidentifi ed thieves made
their way into a private residence in
the vicinity of 133rd Street and Sutter
Avenue through an unlocked front window,
cops said. Th e individuals took
off with a television and approximately
$200.
Th e second incident occurred between
11:50 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, and
1 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, when the
burglars broke into a private home —
also in the vicinity of 133rd Street and
Sutter Avenue — through an unlocked
side door, according to the police. Th e
thieves took two cans of cold soda and
nothing else, according to authorities.
Police obtained surveillance photos
and video from the second incident.
Th e investigation into the burglaries
is ongoing.

Crooks steal straphanger’s
cellphone and wallet
at a Jackson Heights
subway station
Cops are searching for the crooks
who assaulted and robbed a 19-yearold
straphanger on an northbound E
train at the Jackson Heights–Roosevelt
Avenue/74th Street subway station on
Jan. 2.
The two unidentified males
approached the male victim on the subway
and demanded money. When the
victim refused, the suspects
punched the victim in the
face and snatched his cellphone
and wallet, which
contained approximately
$300 USC.
Th e individuals then fl ed
on foot to parts unknown.
Th e victim was removed to
Jamaica Hospital in stable
condition.
Police described one of the
suspects as 5 feet 8 inches tall
and 160 pounds with short black hair.
He was last seen wearing a black Du-rag,
white t-shirt, black pants and bright yellow
sneakers.
Th e second suspect was described as 6
feet tall and 180 pounds with black hair.
He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt,
gray pants and white sneakers.
