WWW.QNS.COM RIDGEWOOD TIMES OCTOBER 27, 2016 25 ARTS & LEISURE Ridgewood students get to use latest tech during John Lennon tour bus visit BY ANTHONY GIUDICE AGIUDICE@QNS.COM/@A_GIUDICEREPORT The students at Ridgewood’s Grover Cleveland High School (GCHS) got the chance to “come together” and work with top-of-theline cameras and musical equipment thanks to a visit from the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus as part of the Come Together: NYC tour. On Oct. 18, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus — presented by Canon USA Inc., and with the support of Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley — came to GCHS with a $1,000 check and instrument donation to support creativity and digital media education for students. Throughout the visit, students took part in the “Canon Educational Experience,” and they were allowed to work with the latest Canon cameras for their own digital media project. Students were also able to check out the state-of-the-art tour bus and try out some of the latest gear and musical equipment through interactive workshops. More than 300 students came together on the school’s soft ball fi eld to “imagine peace” by creating a human peace sign. The visit to GCHS was part of the John Lennon Educational Bus’ monthlong Come Together: NYC tour — a tour of peace, love and creativity — as New Yorkers are invited to come together to create original music, videos, poetry and art around their central “Come Together” theme. The projects created will focus on telling the powerful and moving stories of New York City immigrants as part of a Cultural Immigrant Initiative through the NYC Council and Department of Cultural Aff airs. These stories will be featured in a compilation of original music, videos, interviews, art works, photos and poetry which will premiere at the end of the tour at an event hosted by the Lennon Bus at the Museum of Moving Image. The John Lennon Educational Bus is a nonprofi t, state-of-the-art mobile Pro Audio and HD video recording facility that provides hands-on experiences for students of all ages. It is in its 19th year of touring and features the latest audio and video technology, gear and products. Photos courtesy of The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus presented by Canon USA.
