As commerce continues to shift
away from brick-and-mortar
locations toward the internet,
Capital One has announced that six
branches throughout Queens were
shuttered over the weekend.
According to a spokesperson for the
bank, customers were notifi ed in June
that their branch would be closing on
either Sept. 21 or 22. The following six
Capital One branches fell victim to the
company’s cutback:
• Kew Gardens West: 120-32 Queens
Blvd., Kew Gardens
• St. Albans: 189-02 Linden Blvd., St.
Albans
• Flushing-Parsons: 70-09 Parsons
Blvd., Flushing
• Glendale: 70-24 Myrtle Ave.,
Glendale
• Middle Village: 74-11 Metropolitan
Ave., Middle Village
• Woodhaven: 83-24 Woodhaven
Blvd., Glendale
“This was a difficult decision and
our Bank leaders recognize the
effect it has on our customers,” the
spokesperson said. “As Capital One
continues to evolve and optimize
our branch network in response to
changing customer banking preferences
and to ensure we’re operating
as efficiently and effectively as
possible, decisions are made to open,
renovate, and in some instances,
close or relocate branches. We
regularly review our entire branch
network.”
The spokesperson added that there
will be no change to the customers’
accounts or account numbers. Customers
can still visit any active branch
and receive the same level of account
access that they are used to.
The closures did, however, aff ect
some branch employees who were
notifi ed 90 days before their position
would be aff ected. Other employees
have been transferred to diff erent
branches.
Capital One encourages its customers
to reach out with any questions
about online/mobile banking and
bill pay, and the company has also
given incentives for its customers to
try diff erent ways of banking such as
using an ATM to make withdrawals or
deposits.
