OBITUARIES
ANN PETERSON ZABLOCKI was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Baltimore, Maryland,
to Helen Jeff ery, a homemaker originally from Prince Edward Island,
Canada and Henry Peterson, an Insurance Agent. Soon aft er her birth the
family moved to the Wilkes-Barre, PA area, eventually settling in Dallas,
PA. Ann was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Peterson who passed
away in 2011. She has two loving nieces, Tammi and Melanie. Ann went to
high school at Wyoming Seminary and upon graduation she followed in
her father’s footsteps at Brown University in Providence, RI. Then she was
off to Stockholm, Sweden for a year exploring her Swedish background
on her father’s side. Aft er Sweden she volunteered to teach children of
American Military families in Nuremberg, Germany (1954-1956). In 1960
Ann went to teach elementary school in Montreal until 1967. From there she
went to Hartford, CT and taught from 1967-1971 before moving to Queens
where she taught for the NYC Department of Education from 1971 until her
retirement in 1999. Ann met her husband Bernard while taking a French
class at Laval University in Quebec City in 1966. They were married in 1971
