OBITUARIES
JOHN DORAN SR., a longtime
resident of Ridgewood, died on
Saturday, August 3, in Virginia Beach,
Virginia, at the age of 82 aft er a brief
battle with pancreatic cancer. He
was the son of the late Gus and Nellie
Winters, and a graduate of St. John’s
Preparatory School and Pratt Institute
in Brooklyn. He served for two years
in the U.S. Army as an artillery offi cer,
was an active and longtime parishioner
at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
Church, Ridgewood, and was an
architect who worked into his late 70s.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years,
Anne (nee Boyle); his three children,
Susan Doran, Stephanie Finocchio
and her husband, Chris, and John
Doran Jr. and his wife, Amanda; and
six grandchildren, Chris James, Nicole,
David and Veronica Finocchio, and
Sara and Johnny Doran. His family
expresses their sincere gratitude to
the outpouring of support they have
received over the last several weeks.
Visitation was held on Wednesday,
August 7, and continues today, Thursday,
August 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to
9 p.m. at Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-
19 Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be off ered
on Friday, August 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Our
Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church,
Ridgewood, followed by interment at
Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing.

BILL KORNIENKO died on Sunday,
August 4, at the age of 66. He was the
beloved husband of Dawn Slomka,
loving father of Lucy Pizzarro and
a cherished brother. Services were
offered on Tuesday, August 6, at
Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand
Ave., Maspeth, followed by interment at
Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Glendale.

JOSE A. SIERRA JR. of Brooklyn
died on Sunday, August 4, at the age
of 60. A native of Queens, he was the
dear brother of Samuel Sierra, Loida
Sierra, Nathan Sierra, Rose Sierra,
Leticia Sierra and the late Laura Sierra.
Services were offered at Morton
Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels,
663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood,
followed by cremation at Fresh Pond
Crematory, Middle Village.

WILLIAM KERN of Pine Bush,
New York, died on Saturday, August 3,
at the age of 95. A native of Feketitsch,
Yugoslavia, he was the beloved
husband of Angelika, devoted father
of Rosemarie Kern-Merkel, Robert
Kern and Diana Kunkel, father-in-law
of George, and cherished grandfather
of George and Amy Kunkel, Katrina
Merkel, Nicolas and Danielle Kern,
and the late Jenifer Kunkel. Services
were off ered at Morton Funeral Home/
Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview
Ave., Ridgewood, by Reverend Thomas
Goodhart, followed by interment at
Linden Hill Cemetery, Ridgewood.

CAMILLE FUOCO died on Tuesday,
July 30, at the age of 71. She was the
beloved mother of Joseph J. Macchia
and Peter Macchia, mother-in-law of
John Schaefer and a loving sister of
Carol Ann Fuoco and the late Charles
Uro. She was a proud and dedicated
mother to her two sons, an avid Mets
fan and a frequent photography
hobbyist. A Mass of Christian Burial
was off ered on Saturday, August 3, at
St. Mary’s Church, Woodside, followed
by interment at St. Charles Cemetery,
Farmingdale, New York, under the
direction of Papavero Funeral Home,
72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

KEITH CUTOLO died on Monday,
July 29, at the age of 47. He was the
beloved husband of Jennifer Cutolo,
cherished son of Eileen and Robert
Cutolo, loving brother of Robert
Cutolo, Mark Cutolo and the late Kenny
Cutolo, brother-in-law of Enrique, dear
nephew of Clara, Frank and Kathi and
proud dog daddy of Dugan. A Mass
of Christian Burial was off ered on
Saturday, August 3, at St. Elizabeth
Church, Ozone Park, followed by
interment at Cypress Hills Cemetery,
Brooklyn, under the direction of
Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand
Ave., Maspeth.
