Glendale Kiwanis gives back to community in style
The Kiwanis Club of Glendale recently held its annual scholarship dinner at Christ the King High School’s CNL Center in Middle Village. The organization
provided fi nancial awards to high school and graduating middle school students as they pursue higher education. The award winners included the
following:
Diana Almallah of Grover Cleveland High School, Arielle Hassan and Jack C. Warren IV of Archbishop Molloy High School and Christopher Pham of
Cathedral Preparatory School earned the Charlie and Ann Scheer Memorial Award;
Claudia Huber of Sacred Heart Catholic Academy and Laura Schoemig of Archbishop Molloy earned the Vito Maranzano Community Service Award;
Jacqueline Demirjian of Redeemer Lutheran School, Kaitlyn Farran of Notre Dame Catholic Academy, Chloe Heinz of St. Matthias Catholic Academy
and Christian McKay of Sacred Heart Catholic Academy earned the Glendale Memorial Scholarship Award;
Jack Brudecki of Sacred Heart Catholic Academy received the Marco Vessio Good Christian Award;
Taylor Wolfe of Sacred Heart Catholic Academy earned the Frederick T. “Bud” Haller Music Award;
Michael DiMarco of Kellenberg Memorial High School and Aiden and Reilly Kruk of Sacred Heart Catholic Academy earned the Glendale Kiwanis
Achievement Award;
Christopher Nemeth of Grover Cleveland High School earned the Leo and Kay Schmid Key Club Award;
Michael Agate of Sacred Heart Catholic Academy received the Mick Ennis Memorial Award; and

The Kiwanis Club of Glendale recently enjoyed a visit from Dorie Figliola
who takes care of the Community Garden on 88th Street in Glendale. The
club was happy to present her with a check to assist her with some of the
expenses of the garden. Figliola is pictured at center, fl anked by New York
State Kiwanis Deputy Past Lieutenant Governor Bob Kueber and Glendale
Kiwanis President Tony Sauro.
Members of the Glendale Kiwanis recently visited the Ronald McDonald
House in New Hyde Park, 267-07 78th Ave., to cook a barbecue for the families
that reside there. After the cooking and serving dinner, the club presented
a check for $2,500. Boosting the Ronald McDonald House was one of the
main objectives for Glendale President Tony Sauro’s year at the helm of the
club. He’s pictured along with fellow Kiwanians and members of the Ronald
McDonald House during the check presentation.
