Long Island City Development
Group has filed plans to build
a 12-story, mixed-use building
in the neighborhood.
Currently a two-story auto repair
shop, developers want to turn 38-
24 32nd St. in Long Island City into
a 90-room hotel with medical office
space on the ground and third
floors, according to plans filed
with the department of buildings.
The hotel would measure 34,581
square feet while the medical offices
would take up 8,154 square feet.
Currently, the auto repair shop is
6,873 square feet. There would also
be a parking garage on the second
floor. Amenities would include a
lobby, business center and bar, The
Real Deal first reported.
The Dutch Kills neighborhood in
Long Island City consists of mostly
low-rise buildings that house
manufacturers. Developers have
expressed interest in the area,
which borders Long Island City. A
seven-story condo with 88 units
and 78 parking spaces is planned
for 37-21 32nd St.
The city is also looking to upzone
a part of that neighborhood
so that developers can build more
affordable housing in the area. Residents
pushed back on the idea in a
meeting with representatives from
the City Planning Commission in
February.
