Additionally, service on the M line between Essex Street and 71st- Continental Avenues and the R line between Whitehall Street and 71st- Continental Avenues will end early on Monday through Thursday. M trains will continue to run between Essex Street and Metropolitan Avenue- Middle Village. The last Middle Village-bound M train will leave 71st-Continental Avenues at 8:13 p.m., while the last Forest Hills-bound M train will leave Metropolitan Avenue at 8:08 p.m. The last Queens-bound R train will leave Whitehall Street at 8:34 p.m., and the last Manhattan-bound R train will depart 71st-Continental Avenues at 9:33 p.m. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate subway service between Roosevelt Avenue and Queensboro Plaza, making all local stops. For service between Queens and Manhattan, transfer to the 7 train at Queensboro Plaza or 74th Street- Roosevelt Avenue. Weekday Service Split On The L Line L trains will operate in two sections—between Eighth Avenue and Broadway Junction and between Broadway Junction and Canarsie- Rockaway Parkway—Thursday, July 17, Friday, July 18, and Monday, July 21, through Friday, July 25, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Riders can transfer between L trains at Broadway Junction to continue their trip. Additionally, L trains running between Broadway Junction and Rockaway Parkway will operate every 24 minutes. Riders are advised to plan their trips accordingly. Late Night Local Svc. For F Line In W. Qns. Manhattan-bound F trains will run local service between Roosevelt Avenue and 21st Street-Queensbridge on Friday, July 18, from 12:01 until 5 a.m. Additionally, Jamaica-bound F trains will run local service between 21st Street-Queensbridge and Roosevelt Avenue on Friday from 12:01 to 5 a.m. These trains will stop at 65th Street, Northern Boulevard, 46th Street, Steinway Street and 36th Street. Riders are advised to allow for additional travel time. Late Night Switches On E Line In Queens Jamaica Center-bound E trains will run on the F line between West Fourth Street and 21st Street- Queensbridge on Friday, July 18, from 9:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. As a result, there will be no Jamaica Center-bound E train service at the Seventh Avenue, Fifth Avenue- 53rd Street, Lexington Avenue-53rd Street, Court Square-23rd Street and Queens Plaza stations. For service to the Court Square- 23rd Street or Queens Plaza stops, transfer to a free shuttle bus at the 21st Street-Queensbridge station. Switch Of Lines For F Trains To Manhattan Manhattan-bound F trains will run on the M line between between Roosevelt Avenue and 47th-50th Streets this weekend, from 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 18, until 5 a.m. Monday, July 21. As a result, there will be no Manhattan-bound F train service at the 21st Street-Queensbridge, Roosevelt Island, Lexington Avenue- 63rd Street and 57th Street stations. For service to 21st Street- Queensbridge or Roosevelt Island, take the F train to 47th-50th Streets, then transfer to a Jamaica-bound F train. For service from these stations, take the F train to Roosevelt Avenue, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound F train. F Trains Will Skip Stops This Weekend Manhattan-bound F trains will skip the Sutphin Boulevard, Van Wyck Boulevard and 75th Avenue stations this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, July 18, until 5 a.m. Monday, July 21. For service to these stations, take the F train to Union Turnpike or 71st- Continental Avenues, then transfer to a Jamaica-bound F train. For service from these stations, take the F train to Union Turnpike or Parsons Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound F train. A Trains Skip Oz. Pk. Stops This Weekend Ozone Park-bound A trains will skip the 104th Street and 111th Street stations this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, July 18, until 5 a.m. Monday, July 21. For service to these stations, take the A train to Lefferts Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound A train. For service from these stations, take the Q112 bus or the A train to Rockaway Boulevard, then transfer to an Ozone Park-bound A train. Sandy Repairs Hit G Line In August As part of the MTA’s Fix & Fortify Hurricane Sandy repair program, G train service between Court Square and Nassau Avenue will be suspended beginning at 10:30 p.m. Friday night, July 25, and continuing through 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. During this period, G trains will operate normally between Nassau Avenue and Church Avenue. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service on two routes. One shuttle bus will run along Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Court Square, stopping near the closed G train stations. Another shuttle bus will run along McGuiness Boulevard between Court Square and the Lorimer Street G/L train station, making stops near G train stations. Riders can transfer between the G train and the Manhattan Avenue shuttle bus at Greenpoint Avneue or the McGuiness Boulevard shuttle bus at the corner of Lorimer Street and Metropolitan Avenue. Station Renewal Comes To A Line The Ozone Park/Far Rockawaybound platform at the 88th Street station and the Ozone Park-bound platform at the 101st Street station on the A line remain shut through August as part of an ongoing station renewal project. For service to the 88th Street station, take the A train to Rockaway Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound A train. For service to the 101st Street station, take a Lefferts Boulevard/Ozone Parkbound A train to 111th Street, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound A train. For service from these stations, take the A train to either Rockaway Boulevard or 80th Street, then transfer to an Ozone Park-bound or a Far Rockaway-bound A train. Transit News And Changes -CONTINUED FROM PG. 18- Traffic News And Changes -CONTINUED FROM PG. 18- the state Department of Transportation’s Kew Gardens Interchange project will require the right lane of Union Turnpike eastbound to be closed at all times between 128th and 134th streets. All existing traffic lanes will remain open and are shifted to the left. Lane Closures On Grand Central Pkwy. One lane of the Grand Central Parkway in each direction will be closed between 82nd and 111th streets on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on weekdays. Lane closures will also take place from 10 p.m. Fridays to 7 a.m. Saturdays and from 10 p.m. Saturdays to 3 p.m. Sundays. Two lanes of traffic in each direction may be closed on weeknights from 12:01 until 5 a.m., Saturdays from 1 to 6 a.m. and Sundays from 1 to 9 a.m. Additionally, up to two lanes in both directions on the Grand Central Parkway may be closed under 44th Street and 47th Streets weeknights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through September to allow for bridge repainting. Exit Ramp Closed Near Whitestone Br. The Third Avenue exit on the northbound approach to the Whitestone Bridge is closed to all traffic as part of a $109 million reconstruction project. Separate car and truck detours will be in place while the exit ramp is closed. Signs will be in place and traffic agents will be on hand when the detours begin. The closure is expected to remain in place for approximately two years. Passenger vehicles driving from the northbound Cross Island Parkway will have to exit at Utopia Parkway (exit 34); those driving from the northbound Whitestone Expressway will need to exit past the 20th Avenue exit and merge onto the Cross Island Parkway. All commercial vehicles must exit the Whitestone Expressway at 20th Avenue (exit 15). For additional closures, visit the city DOT’s website at www.nyc.gov/dot or call 311. G Train Won’t Run To LIC For Five Straight Weeks tunnel when the storm struck, damaging vital electronic and mechanical equipment. Basic repairs allowed the MTA to restore service to the line weeks after the storm, but according to the authority, more permanent repairs are needed to improve service and prevent future storms from causing similar damage. The Greenpoint Tube was shut down for 12 weekends last year to complete one part of the repairs, and the continuous shutdown to begin next week will allow the MTA to complete its task. As for those who rely upon G train service in Long Island City and Greenpoint, they can use free shuttle buses stopping at or near the stations affected by the shutdown: Court Ozone Park Men Tied To Woodhaven Man’s Murder Squad later linked the two perpetrators to Islam’s murder. Genno was also tied to the June 10 assault of a 17-year-old boy inside a location on Liberty Avenue near 109th Street at about 6:20 p.m. that day. According to prosecutors, Genno and a co-defendant—Abrar Hussain, 18, of 115th Street in Richmond Hill—repeatedly struck the victim in the head with a hammer. The victim suffered a laceration that required four staples and three stitches to close. Hussain was arrested last Wednesday on charges of seconddegree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment; he was subsequently released on his own recognizance and ordered to return to court on Aug. 4. Detectives further booked Genno on third-degree rape charges for allegedly having sex with a 16-yearold girl inside a Liberty Avenue location in Ozone Park on the night of June 28. Police sources stated Rodriguez has a prior arrest history that includes charges of robbery, assault and drug possession. Genno and Rodriguez must again appear in court on July 31, said a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. Det. Timothy Harrington of the 102nd Precinct Detective Squad investigated the murder, while P.O. Philip Degorter of the 106th Precinct Detective Squad investigated the June assault. Det. Roseangelica Osegueda of the NYPD Queens Special Victims Squad investigated the statutory rape case. -CONTINUED FROM PG. 17- Square (where E and 7 train service are available), 21st Street, Greenpoint Avenue and Nassau Avenue. The Manhattan Avenue shuttle bus will stop as follows: • Court Square—on Jackson Avenue at 45th Avenue; • 21st Street—on Jackson Avenue at 47th Avenue (to Nassau Avenue) or at 21st Street (to Court Square); • Greenpoint Avenue—on Manhattan Avenue at Greenpoint Avenue; and • Nassau Avenue—on Manhattan Avenue at Bedford Avenue. The stops for the McGuinness Boulevard shuttle bus are as follows: • Court Square—on Jackson Avenue at 45th Avenue; • 21st Street—on Jackson Avenue at 47th Avenue (to Lorimer Street) or at 21st Street (to Court Square); • Greenpoint Avenue—on McGuinness Boulevard at Greenpoint Avenue; • Nassau Avenue—on McGuinness Boulevard at Nassau Avenue; and • Lorimer Street—on Metropolitan Avenue at Union Avenue.
