DINER REOPENS AFTER
JULY 4 FIRE
The Good Eats Diner in Maspeth
was back in business on July 7, less
than three days aft er a fi re struck the
Grand Avenue eatery.
The blaze broke out inside the diner
at 9:29 p.m. on July 4. Fire Department
sources said the blaze caused minor injuries
to four people, fi re offi cials said,
but they all refused medical treatment.
Firefi ghters had the fl ames under
control by 9:44 p.m. on July 4, authorities
said.
According to a spokesperson for
Good Eats, the incident was a “small
kitchen fi re.”

CROOK PUNCHING MEN
FOR THEIR WALLETS
Police need the public’s help in fi nding
a roving wallet thief in South Richmond
Hill attacking men for their wallets.
On July 5, the NYPD released video
images of the perpetrator behind the
series of painful theft s that began at
10:40 p.m. on the night of June 6 in
the vicinity of 134th Street and 107th
Avenue.
In that incident, authorities said,
the suspect walked up to a 50-yearold
man and punched his face, then
removed his wallet, which contained
$70 in cash and two credit cards.
Two nights later, at 11:01 p.m. on June
8, the bandit approached and punched
a 56-year-old man in the face in front
of a home on 121st Street near 107th
Avenue. Police said the suspect took
the man’s wallet, which contained
$200 in cash and 10 credit cards,
then fled the scene inside of a
dark-colored four-door sedan that
headed southbound on 121st Street.
Finally, at 11:30 p.m. on June 19,
the crook punched a 51-year-old
man in the back of his head in the
area of Liberty Avenue and 120th
Street. According to police, the
suspect stole the victim’s cellphone
and an undetermined amount of
cash. He then fled the scene inside
a dark-colored, four-door sedan that
was last seen heading westbound on
107th Avenue.
All three incidents were reported
to the 106th Precinct; none of the
victims suff ered serious injuries.
Police described the suspect as a
black man between 25 and 35 years
of age, standing between 5 feet 8
inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, who
was last seen wearing a dark-colored
baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt,
a white t-shirt, dark colored
sweatpants and white sneakers. They
also described the getaway car as a
four-door Honda with a yellow New
York State license plate, driven by an
unknown individual.
