Board 9 Transportation Committee Chairperson Kenichi Wilson advised members that DOT officials presented the proposal May 27. by Noah Zuss A Department of Transportation proposal to alter several intersections on the Kew Gardens/Richmond Hill border was hotly debated but ultimately tabled by Community Board 9 members at its monthly meeting last Tuesday June, 10 in Ozone Park. Officials from the DOT sought the recommendation of Board 9 to move ahead with proposed pedestrian safety changes at three Hillside Avenue intersections––at 127th Street, Metropolitan Avenue and Kew Gardens Road. -SEE BOARD 9 ON PG. 28- After Debate, CB 9 Tables DOT Road Changes by Robert Pozarycki Two teenagers assaulted a woman for her iPhone during a mugging on a Woodhaven street last Saturday afternoon, June 14, police reported. Law enforcement sources said the robbery occurred at about 5:30 p.m. along 81st Street. According to authorities, the perpetrators—described as black males believed to be 16 years old, standing between 5’6”- and 5’7”- tall—approached the 27-year-old woman, displayed a gun and demanded her iPhone. When the victim refused to comply with their request, it was reported, one of the crooks punched her in the face, then removed the phone. Seconds later, authorities said, they fled from the scene in an unknown direction. The incident was reported to the 102nd Precinct; the victim suffered minor injuries. Police said one of the suspects wore a white and blue shirt, while his partner was last seen wearing a red shirt. An investigation is ongoing. Reuniting In Ridgewood For Milestone Forty years of memories were shared by the Grover Cleveland High School Class of 1974 during their reunion at the Ridgewood campus last Saturday, June 14.
