LUCITA M. BERRAS died on
Sunday, June 9, at the age of 81. She
was the beloved mother of Mary R.
Berras, cherished grandmother of
Jacob and William, loving sister
of Nelia and John Ferrette, Joey
and Ana Makayan, Willie and
Jenny Makayan and the late Jorge
and Aquino. She is also survived
by many loving nieces, nephews
and friends. A Mass of Christian

Thursday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at
St. Adalbert’s Church, Elmhurst,
followed by cremation at Fresh
Pond Crematory, Middle Village,
under the direction of Papavero

June 7, at the age of 66. He was the
beloved husband of Irena Giaro,
loving father of Monika and Giaro
Kemp, son-in-law of Joel Kemp,
dear brother of Andrzej Giaor and
cherished grandfather of Julia and

LAURA E. PASTOR of Glendale
died on Friday, June 7, at the age
of 84. A native of Guanica, Puerto
Rico, she was the beloved wife
of Francisco J. Pastor, devoted
mother of George Melendez and
Steven Melendez and dear sister
of Edna Fernandez and Ismeal
Fernandez. She is also survived
by five grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. A Mass of
Christian Burial was offered at
St. Matthias Church, Ridgewood,

ROBERT JAMES BUHLMAIER
died on Sunday, June 2, after a brief
yet valiant fight against a metastatic
pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.
Born on August 26, 1939, and raised
in the Bronx, he served in the U.S.
Air Force and was employed by
Pan American World Airways
at JFK International Airport for
more than 30 years, working his
way to upper management before
retiring in 1991. While at Pan Am,
he met and fell in love with Danuta
(nee Sawicki) Buhlmaier over 35
years ago at a JFK Airport chapel.
Services will be held on Saturday,
June 15, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from
7 to 9 p.m. at Hess-Miller Funeral
Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Ave.,
Middle Village, with a military
honor ceremony to occur at
his burial at Mount Olivet
Cemetery, Maspeth.

Ozone Park died on Sunday, June
2, at the age of 90. A native of New
York, she was the devoted mother
of Thomas Messina and Linda
