10 JUNE 8, 2017 RIDGEWOOD TIMES WWW.QNS.COM POLICE BEAT Compiled by Emily Davenport and Robert Pozarycki 110TH PRECINCT CORONA & ELMHURST HOME INVADER CAUGHT IN CORONA Quick-responding offi cers from the 110th Precinct caught one of the two robbers who invaded a Corona home on Thursday night and held three people at gunpoint in a hallway, law enforcement sources said. Police said the trouble began just before 11:10 p.m. on June 1, when Jesus Palacio, 36, of Lynn, MA and a second, unidentifi ed suspect arrived at a home on 102nd Street near Christie Avenue. According to authorities, Palacio and the other bandit forced their way inside the home and confronted three victims: two men, ages 25 and 39, and a 27-yearold woman. They allegedly pointed a gun at them and demanded cash. Police were tipped off to the incident, and when the offi cers arrived at the scene, they found Palacio allegedly pointing a Baretta 9mm semi-automatic revolver at them inside a hallway. Law enforcement sources said the offi cers ordered Palacio to drop the weapon; they would subsequently take him into custody without further incident and recover the gun. None of the victims were injured. The second perpetrator, however, managed to escape the scene through a rear bedroom window. Police initiated a land and air search for the suspect, utilizing the Aviation Unit and the K-9 Units in canvassing the surrounding area. Despite their eff orts, the suspect was not apprehended. Police described the wanted bandit as a Hispanic male with facial hair standing 6 feet tall and weighing 250 pounds who was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt, blue jeans and black-and-white sneakers. ARMED CROOK HITS QUEENS GAS STATIONS Police are looking for a man who held up three gas stations over the course of four days in Ozone Park and South Ozone Park. According to police, at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, an unknown man walked into a Conoco gas station located at 88-14 101st Ave. The man approached the 52-year-old employee, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The employee complied, giving the suspect $100 in cash. The suspect then fl ed the location westbound on 101st Avenue on foot. Less than two hours later, the suspect entered a Lukoil gas station located at 118-01 Rockaway Blvd. The suspect went to the 34-year-old employee and demanded money aft er displaying a handgun. The employee handed over $3,000 in cash and the suspect took of on foot northbound on 118th Street. The third incident took place on Tuesday, May 30. At 5:50 a.m., the suspect entered a Gulf gas station located at 133-44 150th St. Once inside, the suspect went up to the 42-year-old employee, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The employee complied and gave the suspect $400 in cash. The suspect then fled the store on foot northbound on North Conduit Avenue. The suspect is described as a black male. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan work boots.
