The U-8 Blue won all four of its games and captured first place in the gold division at the tournament. In four games, the team scored 25 goals and played an effective style of soccer. RGMVM: Haller & Haller On Rebound After Dropping Pair, Scores Big Win Over Rosario Haller and Haller returned to winning ways as they beat Rosario Construction 8-3 last Tuesday, May 20. After dropping two games in a row, Haller and Haller of the Ridgewood Glendale Middle Village Maspeth (RGMVM) Minor Division, returned to their winning ways with a 7-1 victory over Rosario Construction on last Tuesday, May 20th. With the win, Haller improved to 8-3 on the season. James Szala pitched a superb 3 2/3 innings, striking out eight and allowing only one run. Szala left runners stranded in the first and second innings, and had an easy one, two, three in the third. Joseph LaBarbara came on to finish the final 2 1/3 innings, to earn another save. LaBarbara struck out four of the nine batters he faced, leaving two stranded in the fourth and sixth. The game ended on a hard liner back to the box that was speared by LaBarbara. The defense behind the pitching was strong all game. Benjamin Muratovic had three unassisted put outs at first. Adam Alava continues to impress behind the plate, catching a solid six innings and ended a Rosario threat by throwing out a runner at third in the fifth. After a quick bottom of the first, the Haller bats came alive. The team knocked eight hits––plating one in the second and fifth––and scored five runs in the third. The biggest hit of the day came off the bat of Benjamin Muratovic, a bases loaded triple in the third. Ryan Regan added a two RBI single in the same frame. James Szala was 3-3 at the dish, Joseph Pennolino added two singles. Aidin Dzaferovic was 1-3, with two runs scored. Next up for Haller and Haller is a rematch with D&A Kitchens.
