ARMIN A. BECK died on Thursday, May 15, at the age of 89. Pop was a complicated but simple guy. A country boy who met a city girl and married and then went on a journey that took them to America leaving all their family behind. He was stubborn as hell but that is what carried him through all these years. His World War II experiences at a young age always made him appreciate what he had because he knew so many men that did not make it home. Mom and Pop raised us four children to work hard, follow the rules, be honest, be respectful, to be quietly proud that we were German but most importantly that family was first and foremost. The devotion of a parent is like none other. Pop you will be terribly missed but we are happy that you and mom are dancing together again. AufWiedersehen—until we meet again. He was beloved by his children and their spouses:Margaret & Barry Carmody, Herbert Beck & Donna Cassillo, Peter & Susie Beck and Rita & Michael Clay; his grandchildren: Heather, Christine, Matthew & Krystal Carmody, Danielle Beck and Billy,Matthew & Garrett Clay: his great grandchildren: Tyler, John & Colin; and his sister-in-law Gisela Mechtold. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews and their children near Dusseldorf & Strahlungen in Germany. He was predeceased by his wife Ingeborg Beck, his sisters Olga & Lena and his parents Andreas & Dorothea Beck (née Pfisterer). He was the past President and a long standing member of Die Wuerzburgers club. Before his retirement, Armin worked in several firms as a mechanist. He was a veteran of WWII and fought on the Russian front and in Italy. Arrangements were under the direction of George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave., Glendale. 35 • TIMES, THURSDAY, MAY 29, 2014 DEATH NOTICES Lasting impressions are our first priority.
