Weekend Work Shuts J & M Train Service J train service between Marcy Avenue and Broadway Junction—and the entire weekend M train shuttle— will be suspended for scheduled construction this weekend, from 3:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, until 10 p.m. Sunday, May 18. This service disruption will be repeated the following weekend. During this period, J trains will run in two sections—between Jamaica Center and Broadway Junction and between Marcy Avenue and Chambers Street. Shuttle buses will replace J train service between Marcy Avenue and Broadway Junction. M shuttle service will also be replaced by shuttle buses, which will operate to and from Marcy Avenue. For alternate service to and from Manhattan, transfer to the A or C train at Broadway Junction or the L train at Broadway Junction or Myrtle- Wyckoff Avenues. The shuttle buses will stop at all affected stations as follows: J train shuttle bus • Broadway Junction—on Fulton Avenue) or on Fresh Pond Road at Putnam Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue); • Forest Avenue—on Putnam Avenue at Forest Avenue (to Marcy Avenue) or on Fairview Avenue at Forest Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue); • Seneca Avenue—on Seneca Avenue at Palmetto Street; • Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues—on Gates Avenue at Wyckoff Avenue; • Knickerbocker Avenue—on Myrtle Avenue at Knickerbocker Avenue; • Central Avenue—on Myrtle Avenue at Cedar Street (to Marcy Avenue) or at DeKalb Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue); • Myrtle Avenue-Broadway—on Myrtle Avenue at Bushwick Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue) or on Bushwick Avenue at Jefferson Street (to Metropolitan Avenue or the Broadway Junction-bound J shuttle bus); • Flushing Avenue—on Flushing Avenue at Humboldt Street (to Marcy Avenue) or at Broadway (Metropolitan Avenue or a Broadway Junction-bound J shuttle bus); • Lorimer Street—on Broadway at Lorimer Street; • Hewes Street—on Broadway at Hooper Street; and • Marcy Avenue—on Broadway at Rodney Street. More Split Service On L Line In Bklyn. M train shuttle bus • Metropolitan Avenue—on Metropolitan Avenue across from the M train station entrance; • Fresh Pond Road—on Putnam Avenue at Fresh Pond Road (to Marcy TRAFFIC NEWS and Updates New York City Department Of Transportation Because of ongoing construction work at several locations throughout Queens and Brooklyn, the city DOT has announced numerous street closures in local neighborhoods for the upcoming week. The announced diversions are current as of Wednesday, May 14 and weather permitting. The DOT may shut down other roads should the need for emergency repairs arise. Streets and highways that are affected by closures during this week include the following: Drain Work Affects Greenpoint Ave. Br. One lane will be closed in each direction on the Greenpoint Avenue Bridge over the Newtown Creek on Tuesday, May 20, from 8 a.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning as DOT crews clear the span’s drains. It was noted that one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction while work is underway. Lane Closures On Van Wyck Expwy. One of three lanes in each direction of the Van Wyck Expressway between Jewel Avenue and Union Turnpike may be closed on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. due to construction work related to the Kew Gardens rehabilitation project. Additionally, up to two lanes in either direction of the expressway in the same section may be closed on overnights from 1 to 5 a.m. Kew Gdns. Project Affects Union Tpke. Long-term construction related to the state Department of Transportation’s Kew Gardens Interchange project will require the right lane of Union Turnpike eastbound to be closed at all times between 128th and 134th streets. All existing traffic lanes will remain open and are shifted to the left. Lane Closures On Grand Central Pkwy. One lane of the Grand Central Parkway in each direction will be closed between 82nd and 111th streets on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on weekdays. Lane closures will also take place from 10 p.m. Fridays to 7 a.m. Saturdays and from 10 p.m. Saturdays to 3 p.m. Sundays. Two lanes of traffic in each direction may be closed on weeknights from 12:01 until 5 a.m., Saturdays from 1 to 6 a.m. and Sundays from 1 to 9 a.m. Additionally, the left lane in both directions on the Grand Central Parkway may be closed at 44th Street for two nights through Friday, May 2, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow DOT -SEE TRAFFIC ON PG. 54- Times Newsweekly Established In 1908 As Ridgewood Times Has A New Address For All Our Mail!
