Queens driver
cuffed in fatal
South Ozone
Park crash
A Queens man was charged in a
car crash that left a man dead in
South Ozone Park on Saturday.
Police responded to a 911 call
regarding the vehicle collision at
109th Street and 107th Avenue just
before 3 a.m. on April 18.
A preliminary investigation determined
that 20-year-old Christopher
Garcia, of 109th Street, was driving
a 2020 Nissan Altima southbound
on 109th Street when he struck a
2003 Nissan Maxima, operated
by 21-year-old Satesh Permaul, of
Liberty Avenue, who was traveling
eastbound on 107th Street.
Permaul was taken to Jamaica
Hospital, where he was pronounced
dead. Garcia was taken into custody
at the scene and has been charged
with aggravated unlicensed operation
of a motor vehicle, according to
authorities.
An investigation into the fatal
crash is ongoing.

Duo steals cash
and a debit card
from man
in Flushing
Police are searching for two
suspects who robbed a man in
Flushing last month.
Authorities say that the two unidentifi
ed suspects approached a 21-yearold
man near 40-05 College Point Blvd.
just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, March
21. The crooks then pushed the man
to the ground and snatched his bag
containing approximately $100 and
a debit card before fl eeing eastbound
on Roosevelt Avenue, police said.
The victim refused medical attention
at the scene, cops said.
Police released photos of the suspects
on April 16.

Man found dead
floating in the
East River
Police are investigating the death
of a man who was found floating
in the East River near Roosevelt
Island.
Authorities say that at 6:28 a.m.
on April 16, officers responded to
a call regarding a man floating in
the East River near 900 Main Street.
The NYPD Harbor Unit responded
and found an unidentified adult
man floating in the river.
Police say that the man’s body
was significantly decomposed and
was only wearing shorts and socks.
The body was pulled onto a pier at
Roosevelt Island, where EMS pronounced
him dead.
The Medical Examiner will
determine the cause of death. The
investigation remains ongoing.
The 104th Precinct released
