OBITUARIES
THERESA PERRECA died on
Monday, April 1, at the age of 70.
She was the beloved wife of Alfred
Perreca, loving mother of Jennifer
Garofalo and Alfred Perreca Jr., and
cherished grandmother of Adeline,
Nathaniel, Aiden, Annalise and
Asher. A private cremation was
held on Tuesday, April 2, at Fresh
Pond Crematory, Middle Village,
with a memorial service to follow
at 11 a.m. this Saturday, April 6, at
Plainedge Baptist Church, Bethpage,
New York, under the direction
of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27
Grand Ave., Maspeth.

JOHN “JACK” ZWERENZ died
on Sunday, March 31, at the age
of 86. A native of Glendale, he
was the beloved husband of Carol
Zwerenz, devoted father of Jeannie
DeVarso and John Lars, son of the
late John and Josephine Zwerenz,
dear brother of Marilyn Wheeler
and beloved grandfather of Jessica
and Connor DeVarso. He was also a
founding member of the Glendale
Civilian Observation Patrol. A
Mass of Christian Burial was
offered at Sacred Heart Church,
Glendale, followed by interment at
St. John Cemetery, Middle Village,
under the direction of George
Werst Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper
Ave., Glendale.

CECELIA “CEL” WERNICKI of
Maspeth died on Sunday, March 31,
at the age of 86. She was the beloved
wife of Chester A., devoted mother
of Chester and Carol Cox, dear
mother-in-law of Barbara and Nick,
and dear sister of Henry Mahnken.
She is also survived by seven
grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will
take place today, Thursday, April 4,
from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
at Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19
Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village.
A Mass of Christian Burial will
be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Friday,
April 5, at St. Stanislaus Church,
Maspeth, followed by interment at
Mount Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth.

LEONA L. KRATZER of
Ridgewood died on Sunday, March
31, at the age of 89. A native of
Brooklyn, she was the wife of the
late Edward Kratzer and devoted
mother of Kathleen Kratzer,
Mary Goudoras, Karen Kratzer
and Steven Kratzer. She is also
survived by 10 grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be offered on Monday,
April 8, at Morton Funeral Home/
Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview
Ave., Ridgewood, followed by
interment at Mount Olivet
Cemetery, Maspeth.

MISHA VARDUMIAN died on
Friday, March 29, at the age of 92.
He was the husband of the late Sofia
Vardumian, loving father of Levan
Vardumian and Alla Minasian, and
cherished grandfather of Eddie,
Michael, Garry, Iana and Karina.
He was also a great-grandfather to
nine great-grandchildren. Services

Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, died
on Thursday, March 28, at the age
of 87. A native of Brooklyn, she was
the wife of the late Robert J. O’Brien
and devoted mother of Jeannette
White, Barbara Allen, Edward
Donoghue, Steven Donoghue
and Patrick O’Brien. She is also
survived by nine grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren.

age of 83. A native of Mayaguez,
Puerto Rico, she was the wife of
the late Marcelo Pacheco, devoted
mother of Diana Pacheco, Andy
Pacheco, Margaret Pacheco,
Michael Pacheco and the late
Marcel Pacheco, and dear sister
of Lucy Borrell, Eva Centurion
and Willie Rodriguez. She is also
survived by nine grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
