Friday, March 11 The Queens Council on the Arts will celebrate women’s history month with art. Twelve amazing female poets, writers, musicians and singers will share their work and collaborate with each other and the audience. The event, sponsored by LAB and curated by Joan Willette will cost $10, but is free for friends of members. The show begins 6:30 pm at 37-11 35th Ave., Astoria. Tribeca is bringing back the classics. At the BMCC Tribeca performing Arts Center, well-known composers will gather to play jazz, folk, chamber music and world music. The artists scheduled to perform are Jayme Stone, Moira Smiley, Sumaia Jackson and Joe Phillips. Tickets cost $15 and the show starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 12 The Queens Botanical Garden is encouraging kids to get dirty. The Botanical Garden, located 43-50 Main St., Flushing, is hosting a free program for kids 2-14 from 1 to 4 p.m. Each age group will partake in different educational, fun and interactive programs. After the open house you can enroll in spring and summer programs, at a cost. The Trinity Lutheran Church will put on a choral show inspired by music of birds and fl ight. Featured works will be from the Renaissance to today. Ticket cost $15-$20 online and $20-$25 at the door. Trinity Church is located at 31st Avenue and 37th Street, Astoria. 8 p.m. Love hair, dreams and hair? The Bay Terrace Garden Jewish Center, 1300 209th St., Bayside, is putting on acclaimed Broadway musical “Hairspray” at 8:30 p.m. Adult tickets costs $22 and $20 for children and seniors.
