 soccer stars  
 sign college  
 commitments

 program  announced  
 that six  
 of its standouts  
 have  signed  
 their  commitment  
 letters  
 for college programs around the  
 country. The announcement came  
 shortly aft  er BWG held a college  
 showcase  at  Grover  Cleveland  
 Athletic  Field  in  Ridgewood.  
 Numerous  NCAA  Division  1,  2  
 and  3  programs  participated,  
 including  Marist  College,  New  
 York University, Vassar College,  
 SUNY Binghamton, NJIT, Yale, St.  
 John’s University, Seton Hall University, 
  Siena College, University  
 of Bridgeport, Fordham University, 
  St. Francis College, Niagara  
 College, NYIT, St. Rose College, St.  
 Joseph’s College-Brooklyn, Hartford, 
  Bloomfi eld University, CSI,  
 John Jay College and York College.  
 The six BWG signees were Chris  
 Rivera with Northeastern University; 
  O’Neill Smith-Elias with the  
 University of New Hampshire;  
 Gerrard Rodman with Elon University; 
  Carlo Ritaccio with Akron  
 University; Matteo Alzate with  
 Davidson  College;  and  Marcus  
 Peterkin with  the University  of  
 Connecticut.

 Three-peat as Hope Hornets  
 sting their way to Diocesan title 
 The Our Lady of Hope Hornets  
 Sixth-Grade girls team captured  
 the Diocesan basketball championship  
 for the third consecutive year,  
 edging out the team from St. Adalbert’s  
 in Elmhurst. The Middle Village squad  
 was led by coaches Anthony Navarra  
 and Scott Nieto, who instilled a hard  
 work  ethic  and  dedication  to  help

 Picture day for Sacred Heart cheerleaders 
 The  Sacred  Heart  Wildcat  
 Cheerleader  team  recently  
 participated  in  picture  day  
 with  their  coaches,  Samara  Ruiz  
 and  Samantha  Ramos.  The  squad  
 helps invoke school spirit at sporting  
 events involving Sacred Heart  
 Catholic Academy in Glendale. The
