GLENDALE, NY – January 28, 2021 – James Nunes, Manager of Operations Support at New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA), was recently
appointed as a non-voting board member of New York State Operation Lifesaver Board of Directors (OLI), an industry non-profit organization dedicated
to raising rail-safety awareness. OLI provides free rail safety education presentations designed to prevent collisions, injuries, and fatalities on and

About Operation Lifesaver, Inc.
Operation Lifesaver, which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding in 1972, is a non-profit public safety education and awareness
organization dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities, and injuries at highway-rail crossings and preventing trespassing on or near railroad tracks. In
1986 the non-profit Operation Lifesaver, Inc. national office was created to help support and coordinate the efforts of state Operation Lifesaver
programs, saving lives by sharing rail safety messages with audiences across the U.S. and beyond. A national network of trained volunteers gives free
presentations on rail safety. A public awareness campaign, “See Tracks? Think Train!” provides tips and statistics to encourage safe behavior near the

Marlon Taylor Appointed to Railroads of New York (RONY) Board
GLENDALE, NY – January 24, 2021 – Marlon Taylor, Vice President of New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA), was recently elected by the membership
as a board member of Railroads of New York (RONY), an industry association that represents freight railroads in New York State. RONY advocates for
freight railroads and their customers and promotes economic development through the state. Taylor was elected to a two-year term which began on
December 9, 2021.
As a board member, Taylor will take a leading role in advocating key legislative issues. These include the importance of infrastructure development and
economic growth and funding assistance to regional and shortline railroads.
“We welcome Marlon to the board as he will be an important asset in supporting RONY efforts in advancing the railroad industry. With his 22 years of
experience, he will be a key team member in monitoring and advocating important railway issues both in Albany and with the Department of Transportation,”
said Charles Hunter, President, RONY.
Taylor began his career at Anacostia Rail Holdings’ Pacific Harbor Line as a conductor in 1999. He has held various positions, including a locomotive
engineer, train dispatcher, trainmaster, and transportation manager, before being named the company’s director of operations. In 2016, Taylor accepted a
new role as Vice President of NYA, an Anacostia Rail Holdings company.
“Joining RONY is an opportunity to utilize my two decades of experience to continue advancing our industry to serve communities and businesses across
New York,” said Mr. Taylor.
RONY represents the freight rail industry in New York State, which comprises four Class I freight railroads and 36 Regional (Class II) and shortline (Class
III) railroads. The railroad members employ over 3,700 individuals and carry nearly 77 million tons of freight in 2 million rail carloads annually.
According to the Washington, D.C.-based Association of American Railroads, shipping goods via train is more fuel-efficient and cost-effective than via
trucks. Every carload hauled by NYA holds about four trucks’ worth of goods. As a result, NYA handles approximately 32,000 carloads annually, helping to
cut roughly 128,000 truck trips from major highways per year. In 2021, NYA moved about 1.75 million tons of freight on and off Long Island, cutting an
estimated 128,000 truck trips from major highways.
RONY partners with various businesses, economic and industrial development organizations, and governmental agencies to promote economic activity
across New York State.
Servicing Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties, NYA operates over 270 miles of track owned by the Long Island Rail Road. For more information
