Indoor success for BWG soccer
Last weekend, the BWG 2006
Academy group completed their
indoor season with great performances
at the East Meadow World Cup
tournament and the Developmental
Academy tournament at the Arena in
Paramus, NJ.
This group of kids started the indoor
season winning second place at the EDP
Futsal Cup in Pennsylvania, that followed
by winning all 8 USSF Developmental
Academy futsal games in Massachusetts,
earning two first place finishes at East
Meadow, and the first and third place spots
at the Arena DA tournament in Paramus.
As it is a big squad, the boys were divided
into two teams, White and Blue.
The White team competed in the U12
Gold division beating East Meadow
2-0; DUSC 5-0 and tying Long Beach
SC 1-1. This was good enough to win
the fi rst place in their division at the
East Meadow tournament. At the same
time, one of the BWG players, Yehya
Etsh won the Most Valuable Player
award for the U12 division.
On Presidents’ Day, most of the team
traveled to New Jersey and won third
place. The group won against Met Oval
1-0; TSF Blue 2-0; lost to NYSC 2-3 and
tied TSF White 1-1.
Meanwhile, the Blue team competed
in the U13 Gold division beating Istria
5-1; Samba 3-0 and tying East Meadow
1-1. This was good enough to win fi rst
place in the East Meadow tournament.
One of the BWG players, Luca Fargnoli,
earned the Most Valuable Player
award for the U13 division.
On Presidents’ Day, most of the
group played to a fi rst-place performance
in the New Jersey tournament.
The BWG boys won against Met Oval
3-1; won against NYSC 2-0; won against
TSF White 5-0; and tied TSF Blue 1-1.
Earlier in the month, the 2006 BWG
went to USSF Futsal Showcase in Massachusetts.
The boys split in two teams
(Blue and Red) competed against teams
from Oakwood, CT, FC Westchester,
NY and Seacoast, NH.
The boys went undefeated, winning
all 8 games and winning their fi nal
games against FC Westchester 5-2 and
Seacoast 14-4.
Meanwhile, the 2005 BWG participated
in SOFIVE soccer tournament on Feb.
10. The squad split in Blue and White
competed against local rival GJOA and
KICKZ UK. The two teams won all of
their games to face each other in the
fi nal. BWG White defeated the Blue 5-3
for the Tournament 1st place victory.
Finally, the 2003 BWG academy
team competed in the Brooklyn Italians’
Tournament. The boys outscored
their opposition 22-1, winning all four
of their games.
