A career burglar who was shot in the backside in the midst of a home burglary in Maspeth last August, is suing the city for $10 million, over claims that he now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) because of the incident, the New York Post reported. Felix Perez, 38, of Brooklyn claims in his Manhattan Federal Court lawsuit — where he is representing himself as his own lawyer — that he cannot get a good night’s sleep while being held at Rikers Island on burglary and assault charges due to his PTSD from the shooting. According to police, Perez — who has six other burglary arrests to his name — was found during a burglary in progress on the fi rst-fl oor apartment at 55-38 66th St., off of Hull Avenue in Maspeth, on Aug. 1, 2016. Offi cers from the 104th Precinct responded to a call from the resident of the apartment aft er seeing Perez in her home on a nanny cam. Cops found Perez hiding in a back room of the home, when a struggle ensued over the offi cer’s gun. The cop fi red one round from his service fi rearm and struck Perez in the buttocks. Perez now claims to suff er from “nightmares of being killed by offi cers and fear of anyone in uniform,” the New York Post said. “I was shot by an offi cer of the 104th Precinct while trying to fl ee the scene of a burglary. I was unarmed and showed no intention of harming anyone nor did I make any hand gestures indicating that I was armed or dangerous,” Perez continued in the lawsuit. According to the New York Post, Perez is due in Queens Criminal Court next week, and the city has not viewed his complaint as of yet.
