The first incident took place on Monday, Dec. 19, at around 9:15 p.m. A male individual approached a 41-year-old woman in the vicinity of Wyckoff Avenue and Hart Street in Bushwick. the suspect took the victim’s handbag, which contained $100 in cash, a debit card and a cellphone. The second incident occurred on Monday, Jan. 9, at 10:40 p.m. The suspect approached a 69-year-old woman who was attempting to enter her residence on Hart Street in Brooklyn. He took the victim’s handbag off of her shoulder, which contained $150 in cash and a Visa gift card, and fl ed the scene. The third incident happened at around 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17. The suspect approached a 41-year-old woman as she was walking on Woodward Avenue and Stanhope Street in Ridgewood. He grabbed the victim by the arm and pushed her to the ground. As he attempted to take her handbag, the victim started to scream, causing the suspect to fl ee the scene without any stolen property. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male aged 40 to 45 years old, standing approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 160 pounds and having a gray and white goatee. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light gray sweatpants, and white sneakers. PROLIFIC MASPETH BURGLAR PLEADS GUILTY A Maspeth man who was arrested late last year for breaking into a total of nine homes across Queens at the end of 2016, pleaded guilty to his crimes on Feb. 14, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced. Juan Cuervo, 54, of 56th Avenue in Maspeth, hit nine homes in Elmhurst and Flushing between Sept. 15, and Nov. 11, 2016. In each burglary, Cuervo ransacked the residences and stole items including a camera, silver coins, jewelry and cash. Cuervo was fi nally cuff ed on Dec. 7, 2016, when he was seen attempting to burglarize his 10th home on 80th Street in Elmhurst. The burglar pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary before Acting Queens Supreme Court Justice Stephanie Zaro. Sentencing has been set for March 17. Cuervo faces nine years in prison, followed by five years’ post release supervision. “In pleading guilty, the defendant has admitted to brazenly breaking into several homes across a wide swath in Queens County,” Brown said. “The defendant not only invaded the victim’s personal and private spaces, but he ransacked their homes and stole their possessions. The defendant will be incarcerated for his actions.”
