Young BWG squads capture indoor tourney titles
Several Blau Weiss Gottschee
(BWG) teams competed in prestigious
indoor tournaments and
USSF Futsal showcase last weekend.
Among the youngest squads
to win was the 2009 BWG team,
which played in the Brooklyn
Italians Tournament. The boys
won five games against teams
from Park Slope, East Meadow,
Brooklyn Italians and A. S. Junior
Elite. In the final, the boys faced
Gold Coast FC and won 5:1. This
group won other tournaments
this winter.
Also, the 2007 BWG won the
Brooklyn Italians tournament by
going undefeated, capturing all

five games. The boys outscored
their tournament opponents by a
combined 37 to 1. In the process, the
young boys defeated Park Slope,
Future Stars, Brooklyn Italians and
the Manhattan Soccer Club.
St. Margaret/RA Flyers speed away to indoor titles

The St. Margaret/Resurrection
Ascension Flyers started off
their indoor tournament at St.
Anthony’s High School last weekend
by winning the Ragazzo 1,000 meter
race.
Senior Kacper Niepokoj captured
the 1,000 meter race. Also bringing
home gold medals were bantam boys
Unai Higgins, Robert Larkin, Frank
Santoro and Sebastian Audrin for
their win in the 800-meter medley.
The Flyers’ seventh- and eighthgrade
senior/junior boys came in
second in their 800-meter medley
competing against high school Freshmen.
The team consisted of Christian
Audrin, Christian Audelo, Victor
Ostling and Ricky Hubert.
Junior boys Andrew Kelly, Sean
Walsh, Jack Larkin and Matthew
Gordon also received silver medals
for their 800-meter medley. Also
receiving silver medals were novice/
bantam boys Anthony Pedicini and
Thomas Fischer for their 400 medley.
Finally, peewee boys Lawrence
Paguay and Jaiden Maxine won silver
medals for their standing long
jumps and peewee girls Isabella Joseph,
Emily Pedicini, Natalia Singh
and Savanna Conroy for their 4 x 50
relay race.
Receiving bronze medals was novice
girl Olivia Santoro for her standing
long jump. Also receiving bronze
medals for third place in their 800
medley are novice boys John Fusco,
Ethan Joseph, Luke Mantel and Gavin
Walsh. Bantam girls, Olaia, Higgins
Makaya Singh, Madeline Mauceri
and Aileen Mitarontda won bronze
medals for their 800 medley.
The Flyers’ coaching staff also
congratulated Isabelle Audrin for receiving
a special medal for her participation
the Ragazzo 1,000-meter race.
