With locations in Whitestone, Astoria and Long Island City, this is the company’s fourth storefront. The new location features an expansive nutritional department, including organic produce, teas and coffees, and gluten-free food products. The location also features a juice bar, an extensive vitamin, supplement and mineral selection and various weight loss programs. “Prescription and non-prescription medications offer tremendous life-improving benefits,” Joseph Isaakidis said. “However, we have always felt that being healthy starts with eating well and supplementing the nutrients which have been depleted from our soils.” “What do is bridge the Eastern and Western medicine,” George Isaakidis said. “We have a traditional pharmacy, but we also carry other interesting things, as well.” The store’s pharmacy department will be led Interior of the new Harpell Pharmacy location in Flushing. by some faces familiar to the community. Eleni Michael and Jenny Vukosa, two pharmacists who previously served the Whitestone community at other stores, will hold pharmacist positions at the location. “We feel very often that medications can provide the immediate fix for a condition, thereby allowing a patient to reset their nutritional needs in order to correct the condition,” George Isaakidis said. “The Photos by Suzanne Monteverdi/QNS hope is that with our help of nutritional counseling and proper supplementation, a patient can eventually eliminate a medication or two after changing habits that were not serving the patient’s needs.” Harpell Chemists, an independently-owned pharmacy, was founded in Whitestone in 1906.
