Hosted by its founder, local poet Charles “Smooth” Williams (pictured second row, fourth from left), the Open Mic featured over a dozen talented poets, writers, musicians, singers, and orators, who were all enthusiastically received. The Open Mic also bade a fond farewell to Ms. Joy H. Bowman, Customer Service Specialist (pictured), who retired this month after 28 years of outstanding service to the Queens Library. The East Elmhurst Library’s Open Mic is held every month with the next one scheduled for October 23rd. Performers are asked to come prepared with five minutes of material. All levels are welcome.
