Queens and Long Island and we are excited to continue our partnership in support of
their 2020-21 season of programs, whether virtual or in-person. We salute the resiliency

This year’s fall season will continue on November 10 with an exciting literary event, Off
the Page: Conversations with Writers, featuring QC faculty from the MFA program in
Creative Writing and Literary Translation, Kimiko Hahn and Maaza Mengiste – who has
been short-listed for the prestigious Man Booker Prize in 2020. These award-winning
writers will read from their latest works and have a live conversation with the audience.
On November 17, our series featuring Queens College graduates, Music Makers: An
Alumni Concert Series, will feature Alex Conde, one of the most versatile contemporary
performers of jazz-flamenco fusion, who has dazzled audiences and earned rave

On November 21 KCA will kick-off the new virtual family series, A Musical Journey
through Queens, curated by Grammy Award winner Dan Zanes and jazz vocalist
 Claudia Zanes.
We continue the Off the Page series on December 8 with a conversation between
Latinx and feminist writer Cherríe Moraga and QC faculty member and author Vanessa
 Pérez-Rosario.
To close the season with a bang, Music Makers will present Aaron Copland School
alum Alberto Jimenez with his Beto Jim Jazz Quartet on December 15 and on December
19, Dan and Claudia Zanes will curate the second Musical Journey through Queens

About Kupferberg Center for the Arts
Kupferberg Center for the Arts (KCA) at Queens College was created in 2006 to honor alumnus
Max Kupferberg for his $10 million gift to the College in support of the arts. KCA is charged with
marketing cultural events, developing cross-disciplinary collaborations among Queens College’s
arts units and between the arts units and off-campus partners, raising funds, and working with
an Arts Advisory Board comprised of academic and community stakeholders.
The overall mission of Kupferberg Center is to provide high quality accessible and affordable
cultural attractions to the Queens College community and the borough’s 2.2 million residents.
The largest multi-disciplinary arts entity in the borough, KCA features world-class artists and
performances at its main stage campus venues, and showcases the talents of emerging and regional
artists in off-site, neighborhood settings. A leader in the cultural renaissance of Queens, KCA
connects residents of the most ethnically diverse region of the nation to their unique cultural
heritages, showcasing these arts to a broader audience and validating the contributions each
makes to the distinct nature of our campus and community.
Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College receives major support from New York
Community Bank, which is the title sponsor of our 2020-21 season, and the Max and Selma
Kupferberg Family Foundation. The season is also supported, in part, by public funds from the
New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council. Additional
support is provided by Resorts World Casinos, the Kupferberg Foundation, the Mid-Atlantic
Arts Foundation’s Jazz Touring Network, the NYC COVID-19 Response and Impact Fund in
the New York Community Trust, the Howard Gilman Foundation, Mertz Gilmore Foundation,
SHS Foundation, the Jerome Robbins Foundation, the Harkness Foundation for Dance, and the
 National Endowment for the Arts.
