Krispy Kreme’s newest NYC location comes to Astoria

Krispy Kreme opened a new location
in Queens, located at 22-02 31st St. in
Astoria, on Tuesday, Oct. 26.
Th e new location on the corner of
Ditmars and 31st Street is Krispy Kreme’s
11th location in New York City. Th e store
off ers dozens of sweet treats via in-shop
ordering, mobile order pickup and delivery.
“With a full menu of delicious doughnuts
— including our iconic original
glazed doughnuts, as well as hot and
cold beverages — we are thrilled to be in
Queens, sweetening the lives of those in
the borough and all who visit this wonderful
community,” said Maria Rivera,
chief operating offi cer, U.S. and Canada at
Krispy Kreme.
Th e shop will be open Sunday through
Th ursday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and
Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to midnight.
Th roughout the grand opening week,
Krispy Kreme will randomly award 30
customers a Celebration Ticket worth
a dozen free original glazed doughnuts
every month for a year.
Christine Kobrynich, director of operations
in New York City, said their goal
is to bring Krispy Kreme to all fi ve boroughs.
“We are excited to open our fi rst shop
in Queens and our second
shop outside of Manhattan,” Kobrynich
said. “We are looking forward to sharing
our sweet treats with Queens and the surrounding
neighborhoods.”
Th e store recently transformed into
Krispy Skreme for the Halloween season,
off ering four new doughnuts.
On Saturday, Oct. 30, guests who purchased
any dozen doughnuts at full price
were eligible to receive “Scary Sharies,”
a special box of a dozen doughnuts to
share, for just $1. And on Halloween,
every guest to come in wearing their costume
received a free doughnut of their
choice.

Chipotle opens fi rst walk-up window in Queens

Chipotle opened its fi rst Queens restaurant
to feature a walk-up window on
Th ursday, Oct. 14.
Th e new restaurant, located at 136-31
Roosevelt Ave., is open every day from
10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Th e popular chain restaurant decided
to include walk-up window restaurants
in order to make their food accessible for
everyone.
Th e walk-up windows will allow customers
in urban areas the ability to order
their digital orders, through Chipotle.com
and the Chipotle app, without having to
enter the restaurant.
Along with receiving effi cient food service,
customers have the opportunity
to support Th e American Red Cross,
a nonprofi t humanitarian organization
that provides emergency
assistance, disaster
relief and disaster preparedness
education.
Th e organization is the
current Round Up for
Real Change partner in
the Chipotle app and
online, which allows
guests to round up their
change at checkout to
the next highest dollar
amount to be donated to
the cause.
Besides the Round
Up for Real Change,
Chipotle holds an existing
fundraising program that enables
schools and organizations to host local
events, giving back 33% of event sales to
their respective causes. So far, the program
has raised more than $58 million
for schools.
Both the app feature and the fundraising
program give Queens residents a great
option to help raise funds for a group in
need.
Chipotle now has two walk-up windows
open in New York City, with the fi rst having
opened in Brooklyn earlier this year,
and three more coming soon.
