This year’s edition will take place on Bond Street on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s Halloween celebration will again feature children parading in costume as they collect candy from merchants throughout the downtown shopping district. In addition, Bond Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between the hours of 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. while kids enjoy bouncer rides, face painting, pumpkin painting and other Halloween-themed games and activities. Each child will receive a goodie bag of Halloween candy and toys. Not to leave parents out, each goodie bag will also include special merchant coupon offers for parents. Nassau County police officers and village code enforcement officers will control traffic at street corners to ensure a safe and fun day for all children and their families. “The Halloween celebration gives us a chance to bring families together and give the children of our community a fun, safe Halloween experience. It is a chance for each merchant in the shopping district to give back to their customers; a way of saying thank you for their patronage. I for one look forward to this event every year,” noted Allen Honig, BID Board member and owner of Poultry Mart. The Great Neck Plaza Business Improvement District’s (BID) mission is to foster and promote a positive and vital business community through various initiatives including consumer awareness programs, media/advertising campaign and sponsorship of many events.
