Gladys Knight, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and Vienna Boys Choir will visit Queens this Fall, as Kupferberg Center for the Arts brings another incomparable season of music, dance, and entertainment to the leading performing arts center in the borough. Following a sell-‐out performance by Johnny Mathis last Sunday, Gladys Knight will perform at Colden Auditorium on November 7, 2014. Gladys Knight achieved icon status with the Pips, having recorded some of the most memorable songs of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Very few singers over the last fifty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-‐time Grammy winner has enjoyed #1 hits in Pop, Gospel, R&B, and Adult Contemporary, including beloved countless gold-‐certified singles like "Neither One of Us (Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye)," "I've Got to Use My Imagination," "Midnight Train to Georgia," and the classic "That's What Friends are For." On November 15, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra featuring Nadja Salerno-‐Sonnenberg, a fiercely original and deeply emotive violinist, will perform at Kupferberg Center. The Orchestra balances orchestral, operatic, and choral classics with equally significant music of the 21st century, and will perform audience favorites from Tchaikovsky, Bruch, and Brahms at their not to be missed concert in Queens. The spirit of the Christmas season comes to life when the angelic Vienna Boys Choir visits Kupferberg Center for their joyous holiday concert on December 7, 2014. This celebrated choir will perform a program of classical and popular music that includes traditional Christmas carols, Gregorian chants, songs from around the world, and popular holiday favorites. This spectacular concert will be a heartwarming evening of music for the entire family to enjoy. “Kupferberg Center for the Arts is looking forward to another year filled with the best performances from the worlds of music, dance, and popular culture,” said Jeff Rosenstock, Executive Director. “We are excited to have such esteemed performers as Gladys Knight, Vienna Boys Choir, and Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, as part of our 2014-‐2015 season. We invite the residents of Queens and the New York City area to join us at these performances and hope that our passion for providing world-‐class entertainment in a friendly and local atmosphere shines through to new and old patrons alike.” Kupferberg Center for the Arts is located at 65-‐30 Kissena Boulevard on the campus of Queens College.
