Cops seek suspect in attempted daytime mugging at Queens Plaza Police have released a sketch of a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted daytime mugging of a teenager at Queens Plaza in Long Island City last month. According to authorities, the incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. on June 22 in front of a location on Queens Plaza South near 28th Street. Reportedly, the suspect and four unidentified males approached the 19-year-old male victim as he walked through the area. Police said the group attempted to remove the victim’s property, then struck him repeatedly about the face and body with a metal object. The incident was reported to the 108th Precinct; the victim was treated for minor injuries. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 107th Precinct Fresh Meadows, Cunningham Heights, Hilltop Village, Electchester and Pomonok Fresh Meadows RadioShack employees tied up in armed robbery: NYPD A pair of robbers walked into a RadioShack at a Fresh Meadows shopping center, tied up the store’s employees at gunpoint and stole cash and electronics, police said. The robbery happened about 10:25 a.m. on July 10 at the store located at 187- 12 Horace Harding Expwy., according to authorities. After the suspects entered the RadioShack, one of them displayed a silver firearm while the second forcibly bound the two employees with duct tape and then removed about $400 and various electronics devices, cops said. The suspects then fled. Officers from the 107th Precinct responded to the scene. There were no injuries reported in the incident. Police have released photos of the perpetrators, both described as black males. The first suspect was wearing a gray shirt, black sweater, black and white baseball cap, and black sneakers; and the second was wearing a light gray shirt with a black hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 112th Precinct Forest Hills and Rego Park Man fatally struck by car in Forest Hills A 40-year-old Forest Hills man is dead after he was struck by a car just steps from his home following a dispute with a driver, police said. Aron Aranbayev was on 71st Avenue near 110th Street at about 11:15 p.m. on July 19 when he allegedly got into the argument with a driver of a dark colored Dodge Magnum. According to authorities, the driver then hit Aranbayev with his vehicle before speeding away. Officers from the 112th Precinct and EMS responded to the scene. Aranbayev was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on July 20. His death has now been classified as a homicide, police said. According to CBS New York, Aranbayev is a wellknown jeweler with celebrity clients, working at his family’s store Rafaello& Co. on West 47th Street in Manhattan. As of press time, police were still searching for the driver. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 115th Precinct East Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights Five wanted for robbing woman at gunpoint inside Corona apartment Police are looking for a gang of robbers who forced their way into a Corona apartment earlier this month and stole cash after holding a 60-year-old woman at gunpoint. The five suspects got into the apartment near 100th Street at about 4:50 p.m. on July 7 while displaying a handgun, according to authorities. They then forced the woman to the ground, causing minor injuries to her arm. The crew finally broke into a locked file cabinet inside a bedroom and took an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing in a black SUV. The suspects are described as Hispanic men, about 25 years old with dark complexions, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 150 pounds. Authorities have released a surveillance photo of all five of the suspects inside the apartment building.
