City’s Top ‘Latino Stars’ to be honored June 24 BY THE QUEENS COURIER STAFF editorial@queenscourier.com, @queenscourier The Queens Courier, Star Network and El Correo will honor the city’s most infl uential Latino men and women at its second “Latino Stars” awards and networking event on Wednesday night, June 24, at Maestros in the Bronx. The event recognizes Hispanic New Yorkers whose major achievements and participation in the community helped to make a difference. Last year’s honorees included State Senator Jose Peralta, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., musician Tito Puente Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle of Fox News’ “Outnumbered” and “The Five,” and New York Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese. During this year’s event, Carmen A. Pacheco and Betty Lugo, the founding partners of Pacheco and Lugo, PLLC, will receive the Latino Stars 2015 Top Lawyer Award. Pacheco and Lugo is the fi rst law fi rm entirely owned by Hispanic women in New York City; it opened in 1992 at One World Trade Center. Latino Stars night will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 24 at Maestros, 1703 Bronxdale Ave. in the Bronx. The event includes a raffl e benefi tting the Latino Youth for Higher Education.
