She also was a founder of the National Organization of Women (NOW) and served as its first President. Betty lived in Queens in the late 1940s and early 1950s in Parkway Village (81-26 150th Street, Briarwood, Queens). It was at this critical period in her life when she began writing The Feminine Mystique. Later in her life she taught a course in journalism at Queens College. Betty wrote and lectured extensively but her colleagues in the Women’s Movement considered her organizing skills the most influential in the struggle for women’s equality. ADMISSION IS FREE.
