The fi rst procession takes place at noon on April 3 in front of Holy Cross Church, located at 61-26 56th Rd. in Maspeth. The faithful will proceed south on 61st Street, then turn along Grand Avenue east to 64th Street. From there, the crowd will walk north on 64th Street and east on Perry Avenue to Transfi guration Church. Later in the afternoon, congregants at St. Matthias Church in Ridgewood will hold their own prayerful march. The procession gets underway at 4 p.m. in front of the house of worship at 58-15 Catalpa Ave.; participants will walk north on Woodward Avenue, west on Woodbine Street, south on Onderdonk Avenue and east on Catalpa Avenue before returning to the church for closing prayers. The largest Good Friday procession will take place at Ridgewood’s Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, as congregants from various local parishes come together to mark the holy day. The march will begin at 6:30 p.m. on April 3 in front of the church located Last year’s Good Friday march in Ridgewood and Glendale drew hundreds of local Catholics commemorating the most solemn day of the church year. at the corner of 60th Place and Bleecker Street. Faithful marchers will then head west on Bleecker Street, south on Fairview and Forest avenues, east on 69th Avenue, north on 60th Lane, west on Putnam Avenue and north on 60th Place to Bleecker Street. From there, the congregation will walk west on Bleecker Street to the OLMM Church Best Wishes to all our friends and neighbors for a Happy and Healthy Passover & Easter parking lot for a benediction. The procession is sponsored by the Associazione Cattolica Italiana Miraculous Medal di Ridgewood. Other Catholic organizations participating in the march include Societa Concordia Partanna, Maria Santissima del Balzo di Bisaquino, Santa Margherita Belice, Associazione La Lambada, Associazione Artistica La Zagara, Maria Delle Grazie di Montevago and the Associazione Culturale di New York. The 104th Precinct and/or 104th Precinct Civilian Observation Patrol will escort each procession. Good Friday marks the crucifi xion of Jesus Christ and serves as the prelude to Easter Sunday, April 5, which celebrates Christ’s resurrection from the dead.
