CE LEBR AT ING WOMEN’ S H I S TORY MONTH
Trailblazer in the Film and Television Industry with a Conscience
It all began at the age
of 10, shadowing her older
brother after school and
on weekends, learning
the ropes of a highly competitive,
male-dominated
industry as she watched
empowering artists like
Aretha Franklin, film music
videos on the soundstage
of the family-owned
company she now oversees
as the President and CEO
– Broadway Stages, Ltd.
Gina Argento joined the
family business, founded
in 1983 by her brother Tony
Argento, after earning her
master’s degree from St.
John’s University. Today,
Broadway Stages is one of
the premiere and fastest
growing studio production
companies in New
York. What began with one
soundstage in Astoria, has
grown into a business portfolio
of more than 60 stages
and other facilities located
across Brooklyn, Queens
and Staten Island. Steadfast
values and relationshipdriven
client services keep
the Hollywood film studios
and executive directors
coming back to Broadway
Stages, and bringing with
them economic gains for
the community.
Gina’s decades long experience
in the film and
television industry has resulted
in the evolution of
a sustainable, inclusive,
charitable and economically
productive business
culture. A certified New
York City woman owned
business by the NYC Minority
and Women Owned
Business Enterprises, Gina
brings a unique perspective
and approach to the table,
with strong family values
that are the foundation
of and day-to-day culture
at Broadway Stages. As a
company with local roots,
they understand the needs
of the community and
the importance of giving
back. Under Gina’s leadership
Broadway Stages
actively supports a variety
of organizations, programs
and initiatives that
demonstrate their commitment
to local economic
and community growth.
Through financial, in-kind
and volunteer resources
Gina strives to lead by example
and make a difference
in the communities
where Broadway Stages
operates. From equality
in education and the arts,
to social issues like food
insecurity and environmental
sustainability, her
efforts are actionable and
impactful. In response to
the COVID-19 pandemic,
Broadway Stages provided
a 10-month in-kind lease of
their 20,000 sq. ft. soundstage
warehouse in Canarsie,
Brooklyn to The
Campaign Against Hunger
(TCAH). The facility was
converted into a food collection
and distribution center
that has helped to provide a
sustainable food source to
those in need. Since March
of 2020 TCAH has served
over 13.9 million nutritious
meals to our neighbors. Gina’s
focus on sustainability
is also evident in her commitment
to the environment.
Broadway Stages is
home to the world’s first
50,000 sq. ft. solar-powered
soundstage, which is part
of their 135,000 sq. ft. green
corridor that includes over
85,000 square feet of garden
rooftops (30,000 of which
are in the planning stage).
These green initiatives
help improve the air, make
buildings more temperate,
reduce stormwater runoff
and broaden environmental
education.
With a sincere commitment
to giving back, Gina
is redefining the journey to
success – when you apply
your values to your business,
you can successfully
do what you love while
helping others. With Gina
at the wheel, Broadway
Stages continues to drive
change and make a lasting
difference in the film
and television industry, local
economy, environment,
and community.
