Queens man in custody
after his neighbor was
brutally beaten to death
with pipe in Jamaica
A Queens man is in custody aft er he
beat his senior neighbor to death with
a pipe early in the morning of Friday,
March 19, in Jamaica, police say.
According to the NYPD, at 1:28 a.m.
on March 19 offi cers responded to a
911 call regarding an assault in progress
inside of 89-32 138th St. Upon
their arrival, police found a 71-yearold
man in apartment 3C, unconscious
and unresponsive, with severe trauma
to his body.
A preliminary investigation found that
the victim’s upstairs neighbor, a 37-yearold
man, had heard noises in the victim’s
apartment prior to the incident. Th e man
then allegedly forced his way into the
apartment and beat the victim to death
with a metal pipe.
EMS rushed to the location and
declared the victim dead at the scene.
His identity is being withheld pending
family notifi cation.
Th e 37-year-old neighbor was brought
into custody from the scene with charges
pending. Th e investigation remains
ongoing.

Cops seek duo who beat
up and robbed woman
inside Long Island City
subway station
Th e NYPD is looking for two people
who attacked and robbed a woman
inside a Long Island City subway station
over the weekend.
On Saturday, March 13, around 3:45
p.m., an unidentifi ed man and woman
approached a 23-year-old woman
inside the Queens Plaza subway station,
according to the authorities.
Th e unidentifi ed woman began to
attack the 23-year-old, throwing her to
the ground and stealing her iPhone,
cops said.
Th e duo then walked quickly left the
subway station and headed toward the
nearby Queensboro Plaza subway station,
according to police.
Th e 23-year-old woman was taken to
Mount Sinai Hospital – Queens to be
treated for injuries to her face and head.
Police describe the man as being
between 25 and 30 years old, standing
between 6 feet and 6 feet 4 inches tall and
weighing around 180 pounds. He was
last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black
hat, blue jeans and a gray backpack.
Th e woman is also believed to be
between the ages of 25 and 30 years old,
according to the authorities. Police say
she is around 5 feet 5 inches tall and
weighs approximately 200 pounds. She
was last seen wearing a black jacket,
black pants and glasses.
No arrests have been made and the
investigation is ongoing.

Man shot in buttocks during
argument at Pomonok
open house: NYPD
Some people apparently will do most
anything for a deal on an apartment.
Detectives in Queens are looking for
the suspect who shot a man during
an argument that erupted while they
checked out an available apartment at
an open house in Pomonok.
Law enforcement sources said the
shooting happened at about 4:05 p.m.
on March 18 at the corner of 65th
Avenue and 161st Street in Pomonok.
According to police sources, the
shooter and the 37-year-old male victim
got into a dispute aft er attending an
open house for an available apartment
nearby. Th e reasons for the dispute were
not immediately known.
Th e words turned physical, police
said, when the gunman pulled out a
handgun and shot the victim once in
the buttocks. Th e suspect then fl ed on
foot in an unknown direction.
Th e shooting was reported to the 107th
Precinct. EMS transported the wounded
victim to NewYork-Presbyterian
Queens hospital in Flushing, where he
was treated and released.
On Friday morning, the NYPD
released video footage of the gunman.
Police described him as a man with
a dark complexion who wore a black
hooded jacket with white fur around
the hood, blue jeans and white sneakers.
