Alongside high-quality food, its exquisite setting includes a wall of autographed celebrity photos, scenic canvas paintings and colorful décor. Bartolino’s has cemented its presence in Astoria since 1989. Owner Bobby Puccio also runs the Tippin Inn Bar next door and Bartolino’s Fine Italian Pizza on the same Broadway strip. Puccio discusses his formula for longevity in the restaurant industry. “It’s extremely challenging and if you don’t have the passion to do this, you’re not going to make it,” he says. Puccio attributes his success to delivering the best quality food and service for reasonable prices. At Bartolino’s, you can expect topnotch Italian dishes that are both traditional and new. For a classic appetizer, try the hot antipasto ($14.95). The hearty starter features a half-dozen whole clams that are soft and mushy, yet crunchy at the core. The clams are stuffed and well-seasoned with bread crumbs and herbs on a shell. The portobello mushrooms Bartolino ($11.95) is another fun choice. It includes sliced portobello mushrooms sautéed with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. The cheese is thick and moistly melted on top, creating a Bartolino’s 34-15 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106 718-728-7522 www.bartolinosastoriany.com sensational fi nish. The penne alla vodka ($18.95) will surely bring excitement to your taste buds. The pasta is pleasantly soaked in vodka reduction and tomato cream. The sauce is simply out of this world! Its bright orange color is contrasted with green basil leaves, making the dish visually appealing. The chicken Florentine ($23.95) is a second entrée that diners will adore. The chicken breast is richly topped with prosciutto and provolone cheese in a spinach cream sauce. The spinach is softly placed on top of the meat, while the cream is a warm and buttery enhancement. Have you saved space for dessert? Enjoy the ricotta cheesecake ($8). This sweet delight is tastefully decorated with pow dered sugar around the plate, chocolate fudge and whipped cream. Pair this with a glass of Chardonnay or an expresso shot to relax and unwind. If your stomach is quivering for Italian cuisine, embrace the fi ne taste that Bartolino’s has in store.
