Police said the woman arrived at her home on 210th Street near 67th Avenue. The two suspects were reported to be dressed as construction workers and standing in her living room when they grabbed the woman. Her hands and feet were also tied up with an electrical chord. The suspects fl ed to the back door after they took a necklace, ring and $700 in cash, police said. The woman reportedly escaped with minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing, police said. 114TH PRECINCT Astoria, Long Island City Cops save cat stuck on Astoria roof for days Offi cers in the 114th Precinct rescued a furry friend that had been stuck on an Astoria rooftop for several days. The cat was found on the roof of a home on 23rd Street on Tuesday morning, according to the precinct’s Twitter account. Captain Peter Fortune, the commanding offi cer, tweeted a picture of the three offi cers in charge of the heroic rescue. “Po Sayan, PO Cascio, and PO Scocca rescued a stuck kitty on roof for days on 23ST today!! #ITSWHATWEDO,” the tweet said. According to several Facebook posts by Tracy Levine, who takes care of several feral cats in the neighborhood, the cat had been on the roof for six days. The cat, nicknamed Hunka Munka, was trapped on top of three buildings that had been damaged in a two-alarm fi re earlier this month near 31st Avenue. She previously tried calling the 114th Precinct and the FDNY, who told her they could not help. But several offi cers placed a cat trap with food on the roof and were able to safely remove Hunka Munka from the roof this morning. “I’m so tired but so happy,” Levine said on Facebook. “Can’t stop smiling, the sun is shining and it’s warm. Hunka Munka did great at the vet and my faith in humanity has been restored.” It’s not the fi rst time Queens offi cers have rescued four-legged friends. In February, cops from the 114th Precinct in Bayside spotted a yellow Labrador wandering around the street on a rainy day. The offi cers knocked on the doors of nearby houses and were told where to fi nd the owner. ATM SKIMMERS CASH IN ACROSS QUEENS Two men suspected of stealing bank information from customers at ATMs in Manhattan last year are now linked to 21 thefts in several precincts across the city including Queens, according to police. Police said the two men allegedly duplicated debit cards to steal money from customers’ accounts after attaching skimming devices to ATMs at a CVS in Midtown on Fifth Avenue and a Bank of America in Carnegie Hill on East 96th Street. The two men used the duplicated cards to take out the money at Queens banks. The amount of money they withdrew ranges from $980 to $1,640, police said. Now, it is suspected 21 thefts last August to December might be linked to the same men. The incidents occurred within several precincts from eastern Queens, Flushing, Elmhurst and Forest Hills to the Upper East Side. The amount that was stolen ranges from $403 to $1,155. Last August, four skimming devices at ATMs were found in Flushing and Whitestone. As a precaution, police are advising customers to jiggle the card readers to check for skimming devices. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confi dential.
