Uniformed officers of the 107th Precinct responded to a 3-1-1 noise complaint at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at 67-11 161st Street, according to the NYPD. In order to write Giardina a summons, the officers asked him for his identification, after which Giardina invited the police inside his apartment. Once inside, the officers allegedly saw about five pounds of heroin on the kitchen table. Giardina was then placed under arrest. A warrant was granted and after further search, 1,948 glassines of heroin were found, together with packing materials and equipment. Giardina faces charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance of an amount greater than eight ounces, criminal possession of a controlled substance of methamphetamine, intent to sell a criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana. 108th Precinct LIC, Sunnyside and Woodside Police: Suspects steal $16K from Woodside business Three men walked into a Woodside business last month, taking thousands in cash as well as the employees’ own money and cell phones, police said. The robbery occurred about 6:40 p.m. on February 25 at Sensational Livery Cab Leasing Services on 48th Avenue, police said. After entering the business, the suspects, armed with guns, demanded property from five employees, then fled with the victims’ cell phones and cash, and approximately $16,000, according to authorities. Police described the suspects as males in their early 20s with slim builds. 114th Precinct Astoria, Long Island City, Woodside and Jackson Heights Arrest suspect who tried to lure girl into SUV in Astoria Police have arrested a man after he allegedly attempted to lure a 12-year-old girl into his vehicle in Astoria  last week. Houshang Hakimi, 69, who has no known address, has been charged with acting in a manner injuring a child less than 17 years old and failure to report change of address as a sex offender, cops said. The victim was near 49th Street and Ditmars Boulevard about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 when Hakimi allegedly pulled up alongside of her in an SUV, according to police. He is accused of trying to coax the girl into his vehicle, but she refused to get inside of it. When the child’s babysitter approached, he then fled, cops said. Fatal hit-and-run A 64-year-old man has died from injuries after a hitand run in Long Island City. The NYPD  responded to a 9-1-1 call at 10:25 p.m. Friday, March 7, of a pedestrian struck on  Northern Boulevard and 40th Road. There, officers found Kumar Ragunath, 64, unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma and a broken leg. He was then taken to Elmhurst Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The victim was allegedly struck by a black or dark-colored Chevy Blazer which was traveling in the right lane going westbound on Northern Boulevard, according to police. The car then struck the victim as he was trying to cross Northern Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk. The vehicle fled the scene westbound on Northern Boulevard, said police. There are no arrests at this time and the case is being investigated by the NYPD’s Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad. Perp used stolen credit card The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect wanted for stealing – and then using – a victim’s credit card. On Monday, January 13, the victim’s credit card was stolen from his locker at Retro Fitness Gym, located at 32-32 49th Street. Later that day the credit card was used at Home Depot, located at 50-10 Northern Boulevard, to purchase two box drills. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The NYPD is looking for a man in connection with two bank robberies. The first robbery occurred on November 8, 2013 at about 12:26 p.m. at Apple Bank, located at 43-73 Kissena Boulevard in Flushing, according to police. The suspect entered the bank and handed a note to the bank teller demanding money. The teller obeyed and then the suspect fled with $639. The second incident took place on January 11 at about 12:28 p.m. when the suspect entered an Astoria Federal Savings Bank and handed the teller a note demanding money, said police. The teller complied and the suspect then fled with $1,122. Police describe the suspect as a 30-35-yearold black male, 6’ tall and weighs between 220-240 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark knit cap and a dark jacket with a hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
