With no materials to work with, Heldens began creating art on paper bags from bodegas and restaurants she went to around New York in 2010. This gallery will feature Content drawings from around the world gathered by Heldens this past year. SATURDAY, FEB. 18 7 The Jamaica Performing Arts Center will hold a screening of the documentary film “HAPI: The Role of Economics in the Development of Civilization” as a part of JCAL’s Black History Month celebration. Director Taaqly Grants’ film follows the Nile River’s role in the economic and political development of early Western civilization and how it directly influences the African Diaspora today.
