Police released images and a video of the perpetrators involved in the pattern, which began early on the morning of Jan. 16 inside Barua Gift and Grocery located at 147-13 Union Tpke. in Kew Gardens Hills. According to law enforcement sources, the burglars pried open a rear door at the shop between 3:22 and 9 a.m. that day and removed $9,000 in cash as well as lottery tickets, cigarettes and MTA MetroCards. Th en, between 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 7:30 a.m. the next morning, two suspects hit three stores on the same block of 69th Avenue near 164th Street in Flushing. Police said they forced open the rear door of each business and removed a combined $3,300 in cash from Lane Cleaners (164-10 69th Ave.), Gourmet Bukharian (164-08 69th Ave.) and Futigi (164-04 69th Ave.). Th e crooks pried open a rear door, but removed no property from the location. Finally, authorities said, the suspects made an unsuccessful attempt at breaking into the Fresh Meadows Halal Meat market located at 184-12 Horace Harding Expwy. at 2:19 a.m. on Feb. 7. All calls and messages are kept confi dential. 108th Precinct LIC, Maspeth, Sunnyside, Woodside Deadly forklift accident in LIC A 28-year-old forklift operator died on the aft ernoon of Feb. 11 in an accident outside a Fire Department storage facility in Long Island City, police said. Rakesh Ram, 28, of Brooklyn was using a forklift to move boxes of material into the warehouse located at 30-03 Review Ave. at about 12:35 p.m. on Feb. 11, according to authorities. Published reports indicated that Ram put the forklift in neutral gear, then exited the vehicle and went to move packages into a nearby van. Suddenly, the forklift rolled down an embankment and pinned Ram against the van. Offi cers from the 108th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the scene. Paramedics brought Ram to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Th e investigation is ongoing. 109th Precinct College Point, Flushing, Whitestone Duo brutally beats man at Flushing station Police are on the hunt for a duo who left a man unconscious in a Flushing subway station aft er a dispute about their spot in line. At 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, a man was standing in line at the subway booth inside the Flushing/Main Street 7 Train station so he could add money to his MetroCard. Th e man stepped out of line to check his balance on the self-service swipe balance checking device mounted on the outside of the booth. When the man attempted to take back his spot in line, he got into a dispute with the two unidentifi ed men. Th e suspects pushed the man in the direction of the stairs, where they assaulted the victim and left him unconscious. Following the incident, the suspects fl ed the scene. Th e victim suff ered lacerations to his face. EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NewYork/ Presbyterian-Queens hospital. All calls and messages are kept confi dential. 115th Precinct Corona, East Elmhurst, Jackson Heights Suspects sought for Corona beatdown Th e NYPD needs the public’s help in fi nding two men who assaulted and critically injured a 34-year-old man on a Corona street several weeks ago. Police released on Feb. 13 images and a video of the two suspects involved in the assault that took place at 2:30 a.m. on the morning of Jan. 15 in the area of 108th Street and 38th Avenue. According to law enforcement sources, the two suspects — both described as Hispanic males wearing dark colored clothing — approached the victim and began punching and kicking him about the face and body. One of the perpetrators smashed a beer bottle across the victim’s face. Following the attack, police noted, the assailants fl ed the scene in an unknown direction. Video footage that police released shows the suspects walking through the area; at one point, one of the suspects could be seen pulling the other back. Th e incident was reported to the 115th Precinct. Th e victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical but stable condition with numerous facial fractures and lacerations.
