Suspects sought in brutal
Jackson Heights beatdown
Th e NYPD on Jan. 20 released surveillance
video of a brutal attack in Jackson
Heights, where a victim was knocked
unconscious and robbed in the early
morning of Tuesday, Jan. 18.
Th e video shows a 43-year-old man
was standing near the intersection of
77th Street and 37th Road just aft er midnight
when two men approached him
from behind. One of the assailants can
be seen throwing a punch to the head of
the victim, causing him to fall headfi rst
into the roadway.
Th e two suspects then removed the
victim’s wallet which contained $70 in
cash and multiple credit cards, along
with a Samsung cellular phone, police
said.Th
e two men fl ed the location in an
unknown direction.
EMS responded to the scene and transported
the victim to Elmhurst Hospital
Center, where he was treated for an injury
to his left eye and face.
Th e suspect that delivered the devastating
blow was wearing white pants and
a black hoodie and his accomplice was
wearing a grey hoodie with a dark jacket
and red sneakers, police said.
No arrests have been made. Th e investigation
is ongoing.

arrested and charged after
striking 11-year-old boy
crossing Leff erts Boulevard
A South Ozone Park motorist was
taken into custody Friday, Jan. 21, aft er
he allegedly struck an 11-year-old boy
Th ursday aft ernoon and tried to leave the
scene, according to the NYPD.
Nasser Essa, 68, of 149th Avenue
was arrested and charged with leaving
the scene with serious injury and
aggravated unlicensed operation of a
motor vehicle, police said.
Essa was traveling eastbound on
Rockaway Boulevard when he struck the
boy who was crossing northbound on
Leff erts Boulevard. EMS responded and
transported the boy to Jamaica Hospital
Medical Center where he remains in critical
condition, police said.

Police looking for gun-wielding
muggers who struck in Jamaica
Police from the 103rd Precinct in
Jamaica are on the lookout for two suspects
who threatened a man with a gun
and robbed him earlier this month.
At around 3:20 in the morning of
Sunday, Jan. 9, in the vicinity of 92-33
170th Street, the 33-year-old victim was
walking down the street when he was
approached from behind by the two men,
who showed a gun and demanded his
property, police said. Th e men then forcibly
removed the victim’s wallet and necklace,
and fl ed on foot.
The victim was
not reported injured
during the incident
and the total estimated
value of the property
that was taken
was $1,000, police
said.
The NYPD released
surveillance photos
of one of the assailants.
He was last seen
wearing a red Sixers
baseball cap, a dark
hooded sweatshirt
and light-colored
pants.
