Redken Saloon Salon in Astoria was host to the 7th Annual Shave the Stache event in support of Quality
Services for the Autism Community (QSAC). Many came down to show their support for the event on January
12, which has raised over $100,000 since 2011. Realtor Paul Halvatzis and and other business owners and
community members took part in the shave or donated as part of the fundraising for the QSAC organization.
Halvatzis serves as one of the vice presidents of QSAC’s board of directors. He and his wife found QSAC over
20 years ago, after their son, Paul Jr, was diagnosed with autism. “This started as a single mustache shave event
years ago, and has turned into a successful annual fundraising event,” said Halvatzis. “With a lot of help from my
friends, QSAC has raised over $100,000 for autistic children.” With their combined efforts, Halvatzis and Redken
Saloon Salon owner Frank Arcabasio raised thousands of dollars to support programs for children and adults
