The Red Storm kept up their winning ways with an 82-57 victory over Tulane at the Barclays Center on Dec. 28. Senior Sir’Dominic Pointer had a career-high 24 points and D’Angelo Harrison added 21 in the victory for the Red Storm, which climbed two spots to No. 15 in the AP Poll on Dec. 29. The Red Storm opened their Big East schedule Dec. 31 at Seton Hall and will host Butler on Jan. 3. Christ the King gets split in Delaware, sees 23-game winning streak end The Royals headed to Delaware to take part in the Slam Dunk at the Beach tournament on Dec. 27-28. On Dec. 28, Christ the King faced Sunrise Christian of Wichita, Kansas, and were handed a 66-57 loss. Junior Rawle Alkins had 23 points while Jose Alvarado added 15 in the loss. On Dec. 27, Christ the King defeated Gonzaga College High of Washington, D.C., 63-51. Against Gonzaga, Alkins had 18 points, 18 rebounds, four steals and three blocks. The Royals are 8-1 and return to action Jan. 2 against Molloy and Jan. 4 against Xaverian. Springfi eld Gardens rolls into New Year atop Queens A East The Golden Eagles are 7-0 in league play and are getting production from Joel Boyce (19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds), Ian Howard (17.4 points, 17.7 rebounds) and Daniel Kissoon (16.1 points, 4.4 rebounds). They remained unbeaten in league play with a 67-56 victory at Far Rockaway on Dec. 22. Boyce had 21 points while Howard collected 14 and 18 rebounds and Kissoon chipped in 14. Overall, Springfi eld Gardens is 9-2 after a 68-58 non-league game over Benjamin Banneker on Dec. 27. The Golden Eagles host St. Anthony’s of Long Island in a non-league game on Jan. 8 and resume league play by visiting Jamaica on Jan. 9. Bowne atop Queens A West standings The Wildcats went 14-0 in Queens A West last season and are halfway to doing so again. On Dec. 23 Bowne led by 16 after the fi rst quarter en route to a 72-57 win over Forest Hills. Khari Ojeda Harvey had 18 points and 10 assists and Bowne had 17 assists on 19 baskets. Bowne will next take on undefeated Francis Lewis on Jan. 6 in Fresh Meadows. Lady Owls ahead of pack in Queens A West Bryant headed into the Christmas break undefeated in league play. The Lady Owls improved to 7-0 with a 36-28 win at Cardozo on Dec. 22. Ashley Quiles had 12 points and Shayla McCombs added 10. Bryant holds a one-game lead over Cardozo and Bowne. The Lady Owls resume league play on Jan. 5 by visiting Bowne. Delsol-Lowry, Holloway and Walker among Queens AA scoring leaders Through eight games, Daniel Delsol-Lowry of Queens High School of Teaching is second in the league with 174 points (21.7 per game). That puts him behind High School of Construction’s Justin Wright- Foreman, who is averaging 27.1 points. Rounding out the top fi ve scorers in Queens AA are Bayside’s Ryniek Holloway (20.5) Cardozo’s Aaron Walker (17.5) and Campus Magnet’s Jamel Kearney (16.6). High School of Construction gets another double-digit non-league win The Red Hawks are 12-1 overall and fi ve of those wins have been non-league games. The latest victory was Dec. 27 when they faced Brooklyn Collegiate and had an 85-63 win. In fi ve non-league games, Construction’s average margin of victory has been 24.8 points. The Red Hawks are back in action Jan. 6 when they visit Campus Magnet. Campus Magnet on a three-game winning streak Campus Magnet established a strong defensive tone by allowing six fi rst-quarter points at Edison on Dec. 23 and wound up with an 84-57 victory. Junior Jamel Kearney had 23 points and is averaging 16.6 points in eight league games. The Bulldogs are 5-3 in Queens AA and resume league play Jan. 6 by hosting High School of Construction.
